Cooking and Culinary Schools in Portland Train Chefs and Pastry Chefs

When it comes to food Portland, Oregon is nestled in one of the most food-centric areas of the country. Nearby Willamette Valley and Hood River offer a dizzying bounty of farm fresh food and award-winning wineries, much of the bounty funneled directly to Portland restaurants and markets. So if you have a deep desire to cook, then you’re in the right place.

There is nothing typical about the foods and menus you’ll discover in this dynamic city, either. Emphasis is on ingredients, many of them fresh and organic and reflecting the Pacific Northwest seasons. You’ll find a generous number of vegan restaurants and menus that commit to sustainable living and environmentally conscious cooking and consumption.

Oregon Culinary Institute

Restaurant kitchens are fast-paced environments, requiring efficient, practiced and accurate skills, and the hands-on approach in their two Culinary Arts programs will enable you to experience exactly what those environments are all about.

Their food philosophy mirrors that of Portland's – and the country's – best restaurants. Fresh. Seasonal. Farm-to-table. Local. Organic. Quality. And their students get to put it all into practice at our own open-to-the-public fine-dining restaurant before embarking on a professional externship.
