Guess Who Game Review
Guess Who Game Background
Guess Who is an elimination-based guessing game. Identify your opponent’s character by choosing from a set of yes or no questions. The game was developed by CodeThis Lab.
How to Play Guess Who
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. To begin, select the play button at the bottom center of the welcome screen.
Choose a character from the screen by selecting their portrait.
To choose a question, select the arrows to its left or right on the question slot on the bottom left. When you’ve picked a question, select the check button to lock it in. To answer the computer player’s question, select the check button to say “yes” or the x button to say “no.”
Basic Gameplay Advice
The game is a process of elimination. Your goal is to narrow it down to one person before the computer does the same to the character you chose. You can only figure it out by saying yes or no questions provided on the question space on the bottom left. If the characters match the question (a yes), their portrait remains as is. However, if they don’t (a no), their portraits are crossed out.
As you ask questions, more portraits of the people who don’t meet the character’s description are crossed out. Your progress is shown on the left side of the screen, while the computer’s progress is shown on a smaller screen on the lower right.
There are 24 characters in this game. The questions are tailored for the characters; if a question asks for a trait, at least one of the characters have it.
Your score is based on the number of characters you eliminate per turn. The more characters you rule out, the higher the points you earn in that turn.
Once you finish the game, select anywhere to return to the welcome screen.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
The best way to go about this game is to employ deductive reasoning. This is a top-down approach to asking questions that starts with the general and moves down to the specific. First, try to ask questions based on the most common aspects that differentiate the people, such as their gender or hair. These will eliminate more people from the get go. From there, choose the traits the remaining people have and pick out questions based on that. For instance, if a few of the characters have glasses, ask if the character wears glasses. Until only few of them are left, keep asking questions based on which feature is the most common.
Educational Aspects
The game introduces players to deductive reasoning. Players must resort to this method of thinking to quickly rule out other people faster than the computer player.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend this to players of any age who are able to read and like logical deduction games.
