PacRat is a Pac-Man inspired maze attack game featuring 3 cats who chase your mouse (rather than the 4 ghosts who chase Pac-Man).

How to Play PacRat

Press the play button at the bottom center of the screen to bring up the level select screen, then select a level number to start playing that stages.

Use the arrow keys to move the chef around the playing field.

Basic Gameplay Advice

This game features 6 stages unlocked sequentially. Collect all the cheese to beat each stage. Avoid contact with the 3 cats, as they take one of your 3 lives if they run into you.

Large cheese wheels act like power pellets in Pac-Man, turning your rat green temporarily, and allowing you to take out the cats for a short period of time, scoring 50 points each. Each small piece of cheese is worth 10 points and each cheese wheel is worth 50 points. Your game score is the sum of your level score.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The logic behind the cats is not particularly smart, and they take quite a while to restore after being defeated, so you can clear out a lot of cheese and save the cheese wheels for when multiple cats are near.

When you eat the large cheese wheels it takes a split second for the power up to kick in, so be sure you don’t cut the timing too close, as you can get hit by a cat right after you ate the cheese (but before the power up kicks in) and die.

After beating all 6 stages you can keep replaying stages to add to your overall game score, so it is best to play conservative and ensure you do not die so that you can complete the stages many times and maximize your game score.

Educational Aspects

This is a simple maze attack game which is fun, though does not have much of an educational component to it.
