Mahjong At Home Game Review
Mahjong At Home Game Background
Mahjong At Home is a collection of 366 Mahjong Solitaire boards. The rules of the game are the same as any other Mahjong Solitaire game: clear the entire board of mahjong stones by pairing up free identical or thematically similar stones.
This game was created by RavalMatic.
How to Play Mahjong at Home
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. The welcome screen automatically gives way to the main menu. Select a day from the calendar to the left of the main menu to play the board for that specific day. You can also choose unlocked boards according to themes by selecting the categories on the right side of the main menu.
Your goal is to clear the entire board of mahjong stones. To clear stones, you must pair them up. Select a pair of identical free stones from the board to clear them. A free stone will have no stone on top of it and at least one side without an adjacent stone. Keep selecting stones until you clear them all.
To see which stones are free, select any unfree stone to gray them out. To revert them, select another unfree stone.
Basic Gameplay Advice
The game has 366 boards, one for every day of the year plus the leap day. A new board is unlocked every day. Select a day from the calendar on the right side of the screen to play the board of that particular day. Keep playing every day to unlock all of the boards.
The game provides you with 3 hints. These will highlight a random pair of stones somewhere in the stack. You cannot replenish the number of hints you have per session. However, each time you start a new session, you begin with 3 hints once more.
The game records the amount of time it takes you to finish the puzzle.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Statistically, it is not always possible to clear all the stones in a board by pairing free stones. When you run out of free pairs, the game automatically shuffles the board. Pay attention to the number of remaining pairs onscreen using the open matches counter. For much of the game, your goal should be to choose the moves that increase the count.
If you spot more than a pair of possible matches (such as the case with flowers), look closely at what’s underneath them before choosing. See if you can pair the tiles underneath with another before selecting. The right choice would be the one that opens up a new pair.
Gray out the unfree stones. This will make the pairs easier to spot and help you ignore stones you don’t need to be overly concerned with. That said, do remember to check the stones underneath a free stone for potential future pairs.
Educational Aspects
The game is an exercise in patience and visual acuity. The player’s ability to spot identical objects is a critical skill honed while playing.
Player Age Recommendations
This is an easygoing game ideal for players school aged and above. We recommend it for fans of Mahjong Solitaire.
