Cookie Monster Game Review
Cookie Monster Game Background
Cookie Monster is a crossover maze attack game inspired by both the original Pac-Man and the Sesame Street character of the same name. Eat all the cookies in the maze without getting caught by the ghosts.
The crossover was conceptualized by Tang Yongfa and developed by Shaun Williams for Zygomatic. The original Cookie Monster was created by Jim Henson.
How to Play Cookie Monster
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. To start the game, select Play near the bottom left corner of the game. You can also change the game’s language by selecting the flag button on the bottom left corner.
To move, press the arrow keys on your keyboard when you’re on a desktop and swipe in the desired direction on a touchscreen device. Make sure your device is oriented in landscape mode when playing this game. Cookie Monster will move in the direction until they hit a wall; immediately change direction when they hit a corner or an intersection to keep them going at a constant speed.
Your web browser automatically saves your high score.
Basic Gameplay Advice
You play as Cookie Monster. Roam around the maze and eat all the pellets. Clearing the maze will automatically start a new one. Play through as many mazes as you can.
Avoid the ghosts as best you can. The ghosts slowly leave their cell one at a time and start prowling the maze. To turn the tables on the ghosts, eat the large pellets. This will turn them into cookies. Every cookie you eat grants bonus points, which doubles the more cookies you eat in a row.
You can also collect fruits. The fruits move around in the maze like the ghosts. Be prepared to chase them throughout the maze whenever they appear.
You start each session with 3 lives. Each time a ghost attacks Cookie Monster, you lose a life. Lose all your lives and it’s game over.
Each pellet is worth 10 points. The large power-up pellets are worth 50 points. The fruits are worth 100 points. By default, each cookie is worth 200 points and increases in multiples of 2.
Your web browser automatically saves your high score. By default, however, the game’s high score is 10,000 points. Beat this score to save your best score moving forward.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
One thing that makes this different from the original Pac Man is that the maze is randomly generated. The conventional wisdom of memorizing the maze is not applicable in this event. What you need to do is to keep moving. If you stay still for too long, the ghosts will eventually catch up.
Once the ghosts are eaten, stay well away from the cell at the center. They will eventually get out, and you’d want to keep some distance between you and the others.
To earn points faster, see if you can seize the big pellets when you have at least 3 ghosts closing in. This will allow you to quickly consume all three at once.
Educational Aspects
This game hones a player’s reaction times and hand-eye coordination.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend this game for fans of the original Pac-Man and other maze attack-style games.
