How to Play Sushi Puzzle

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select a level number from the level selection screen to begin.

To place the blocks in the board, select them, then drag and drop them to anywhere within the grid that they can fit in.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic rules

You begin with a set of sushi blocks and a grid-shaped board. Your task is to fill the entire space within the board with the sushi blocks. Drag and drop the individual blocks from the serving tray at the bottom of the screen onto the board to place them in. Each sushi block must be placed as-is; you cannot rotate them nor make them overlap one another.

The game provides you with 10 hints, which you can use throughout all of the levels. To use a hint, select the hint button on the top right corner of the welcome screen. A hint reveals where a piece is placed within a level; you can use one every few levels or several hints in one level. Using a hint twice in a level you replayed, however, will reveal the same hint from the previous time you played the level. Use hints wisely; when you use up a hint, you cannot gain a new one.

Levels

The game has 30 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten. Your web browser automatically restores your game progress.

To beat each level, you must finish the puzzle within the number of moves provided or within 3 minutes and 30 seconds. You must finish the puzzle within 30 moves. If you fail to finish the level, you have the option of playing it again. The move counter and timer appear on the top center of the welcome screen.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Pay attention to the shapes of each of the sushi blocks. Since you cannot rotate them, the shapes can clue you in on where on the grid the blocks might be placed. Features to look out for include long straight edges and parts that stick out. Blocks with long edges need to be placed in areas with long edges. Meanwhile, blocks that have parts that stick out need similar parts to touch; these include holes in the grid.

If you’re ever stuck, consider playing at random and working from there. Find a large piece and place it somewhere, then place the other pieces around it. Make sure to avoid removing the blocks already correctly placed. You can move any blocks that you’ve already placed, so feel free to do so as long as the move limit allows you.

You can also use a hint to help you lay down a piece correctly. Use them sparingly, as you don’t get any more than the 10 you begin with.

This game hones a player’s spatial and logical thinking skills. Players must work out how the shapes of the sushi roll blocks can fit together to properly place each one into the space provided.
