Cut for Cat is a physics puzzle game where you cut strings to help guide a piece of candy toward all the stars and to a hungry cat waiting somewhere at the bottom of each level.

How to Play Cut for Cat

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select the play button at the center to open the level selection screen. Pick out a level to begin.

Select the strings to cut them. You’ll need to cut the strings at the right time to make sure they move in the desired direction. There can be several string to cut in each level.

Basic Gameplay Advice

The game has 30 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten. After beating the level, the game automatically loads the next one. If you fail the level in some way, it automatically restarts. You can hit the reset button to manually restart the level if you ever get stuck.

To clear the level, you must have the dangling piece of candy collect all 3 stars and have it fall toward the black cat at the bottom of the level. The cat will only open its mouth to receive the candy if you’ve collected all 3 stars. To achieve this, you must cut the strings in the right order at the right time.

In some levels, you’ll need to contend with chains. You cannot cut chains by selecting them. To do this, you must cut a circular sawblade suspended on a string at the right moment. In some levels, you’ll need to collect the stars with the candy before breaking the chains to finish the level.

A few levels have platforms, with some hanging on strings. A few might dangle above rubber gaskets; if you cut the strings holding them up, the platforms will land on the gaskets and form a path. In some levels, platforms may act as barriers; cut them loose to remove them.

Bubbles appear in a few levels. If a candy touches a bubble, it enters it. The candy will float on the bubble until you select it. Once selected, the bubble pops and the candy within drops straight down. Make sure that the bubble hovers over the stars or the cat when you do this. Don’t let the bubble move past your target. If the ball falls into the void, you’ll automatically restart the level.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Some levels helpfully indicate where the ball should drop through an outline of a circle rendered in a dashed line. Make sure the candy is within the circle before cutting the last string.

If you need to remove a platform, cut the string holding it unevenly. This means having more string attached to the platform when it’s cut loose so that it tilts out of balance and slides off.

Study the layout of the level carefully before cutting any of the strings. Analyze where the candy needs to roll, then choose the order of cuts you’ll be making. Be aware that timing is also important. Pay attention to each cut you make and make the next cut when the moment is right.
