Bananamania Game Background

Bananamania is a deceptively simple rhythm game where you must toss bananas at the hungry gorillas without losing any of them. Watch out for the dynamite sticks.

How to Play Bananamania

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select anywhere to show the play button. Select the play button to begin. By default, only one of the game modes is available to play. Finish the first game mode to unlock the next.

To shoot, select anywhere on the screen. The shooter at the center will fire two things with each shot; in most cases it will be a banana, but in others it will be a stick of dynamite. If the shooter turns black and resembles a cartoon bomb, it will shoot dynamite. The banana or dynamite will fly in the direction where the shooter is pointing.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Make sure to shoot the banana in the direction of either of the gorillas. There is a male gorilla on the top of the screen and a female gorilla at the bottom. Each time the gorillas receive a banana, they change their outfits. Meanwhile, you should shoot the dynamite away from the gorillas. The game ends when you shoot a banana away from the gorillas or if you shoot a stick of dynamite at the gorillas. You can restart the game as many times as you want.

As the game progresses, the shooter starts to spin faster. To finish the game, you must shoot the number of bananas and dynamite sticks as indicated by the counter at the center of the shooter.

Difficulty increases in the later 2 levels. In the second level, the gorillas move from side to side. The gorillas also shrink, which can make it harder to hit them. On the third level, the shooter has a secondary shooter outside it that has a different effect each time you release when it touches a different color. If it touches yellow, it releases regular bananas. If it touches pink, it releases bananas that shrink the gorillas. If it touches black, it releases dynamite.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The game is fundamentally a rhythm game, but two factors will throw you off. The first is that the shooter spins progressively faster as the game goes on. Your clicks and taps must keep pace to shoot at the appropriate time. Second, the dynamite sticks must be disposed off without hitting the gorillas.

To cope with the sudden swings, we recommend starting fast to accustom your fingers to click or tap quickly, then slow down as the game progresses. Shoot at least one or two bananas at each gorilla with each spin, then slowly focus on shooting on only one gorilla as the spinner moves faster and faster. Toward the end game, shoot after every few spins.

The key to shooting accurately at high speeds is to shoot before you need to, not after. If you’re playing on a desktop, set your mouse pointer over the gorilla and click it when the shooter is just ahead of it.

At times, you may just not like the background or the number of bombs appearing are too much for you to handle at once. Intentionally losing not only rerolls the background but also lets you start again on a much slower speed.

Educational Aspects

This game hones and challenges a player’s hand-eye coordination, concentration, and response times. Players must work fast yet remain attentive to ensure that the gorillas get bananas and not sticks of dynamite.
