Valentine Link Game Background

Valentines Link is a Mahjong Connect game themed after the Day of Hearts. Link identical pairs of romance-themed tiles together to clear them from the screen. Make sure that the tiles are adjacent or can be connected by a line with no more than two 90-degree bends. Clear all the tiles before the timer runs out to win.

How to Play Valentine Link

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select the play button at the center left of the welcome screen to begin. If you are playing the game a second time, it will ask you if you want to start a new session or resume the previous one.

To remove a pair of tiles, select one, then select another one that’s identical to it. Identical tiles can only be removed if they form a valid pair, which is any of the following:

• A pair adjacent to one another
• A pair that can be connected by a line with no more than two 90-degree bends.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic Rules

Match identical tiles that form a valid pair to remove them from the screen. Keep matching tiles until you remove every tile onscreen. Once you form a pair, the tiles will converge together and leave the screen. You can keep forming new pairs while the paired-off tiles are moving.

To win, you must clear the entire screen before the timer expires. You begin with 5 minutes on the timer and have fewer seconds to play as the game progresses. By the last level, you’ve only got 1 minute and 30 seconds to clear everything. If you run out of time, you fail the level. Upon failing, you have the option to try again or quit the game.

Levels

The game has 15 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Your web browser automatically saves your level progress. Each time you reload the game, you automatically begin at the last level you’ve unlocked. You cannot replay previously beaten levels without clearing your previous level progress. As you progress through the levels, you must clear more tiles.

Scoring

Your score in this game is cumulative; your score in one level carries over to the next. Each pair you make is worth 100 points. In addition, you also receive 1 point for every second left on the timer.

You receive a chain bonus if you clear two or more pairs in rapid succession. The bonus starts at 300 and increases the more you clear. Wait too long between clearing pairs, however, and the chain ends. You will automatically receive the points you’ve earned from the chain.

To save your score on the leaderboard, finish all 15 levels in the game or quit the game after failing. Select High Scores on the welcome screen to view the leaderboard.

Assistance

The game has two ways of helping you if you’re ever stuck. A hint will show you a valid pair within the stack, while a shuffle will rearrange all the tiles in the stack.

You begin with 3 of each option; these are replenished each time you finish a level. They cost you nothing to use.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

This game does not reward you much for finishing a level quickly. To exponentially increase your score, try to keep the chain going until the very end of the level instead. One way to sustain the chain is by periodically selecting pairs that are farther apart. The time it takes for them to come together will buy you enough time to search for and make more pairs. You can also use hints and shuffles to help you out as they don’t cost you any points.

If all else fails and you break your chain’s momentum, refresh the tab and start over.
