Tropical Fruit Mahjong is a tropical-themed timed mahjong solitaire game. Match pairs of fruit-themed stones to make refreshing cool drinks. Clear the stack of stones as quickly as you can to beat the timer and earn as many points as you can.

How to Play Tropical Fruit Mahjong

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select Play at the center of the welcome screen to open the level selection screen. From there, select the icon of an unlocked level to get started.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic Rules

Each stack consists of tiles (“stones”) with a fruit on them. To clear the stones, select one and then another that’s identical to it. You can only remove stones that are free; these are defined as stones that have no neighboring stone on at least one horizontal side and no stone resting above it. Free stones are vividly colored whereas unfree stones are grayed out.

You only have a limited amount of time to clear the entire stack. This varies with the levels. Finish the entire stack before the timer runs out to win the game.

Assistance

You have two ways of getting help in this game, though it comes at the cost of your score. A hint will cost you 150 points and show you the location of a pair of free stones anywhere on the stack. A shuffle will change the arrangement of all the stones for a price of 500 points.

Both are found below the pause button at the screen’s lower left side. The hint button has a question mark on it while the shuffle button resembles a reset button.

Levels

The game has 200 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve unlocked by selecting their icon on the level selection screen. Your web browser automatically saves your level progress.

Each level has its own high score. If you play a level and beat its previous high score, it will replace the high score shown below the level’s icon.

Scoring

You earn 10 points for every identical pair of stones you remove. In addition, you also receive a stacking multiplier bonus each time you remove pairs of fruits in rapid succession. This starts at x2 and increases by a value of 1 each time you clear a pair while the multiplier’s timer bar is active. There is no limit to the amount the multiplier can stack. Finally, you earn around 2.01 points for every second left in the timer.

Besides the level’s high score, you also have a total score based on the sum of every high score you have. Each time you beat a level’s high score, the difference between it and your previous score is added to your total. You can save your score once you finish or end in a game over. You can see your previous high scores in the leaderboard by selecting the High Scores button on the welcome screen.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Open up the stack by removing stones at the edges, especially around the wider rows. Try to open the stack further by searching for pairs from every highlighted stone.

Be careful when trying to pair fruits; some of them appear fairly similar.

If you must use assistance, go with hints. Hints cost fewer points than shuffles.
