How to Play Onet Connect

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Play to open the difficulty screen. Select any of the three difficulties to begin the game.

To clear a pair of valid tiles, select one, then select the other.

Basic Gameplay Advice

This game employs the rules of mahjong connect. Select a pair of valid identical fruit tiles to clear them from the screen. A valid pair of tiles must be connected by no more than 3 straight lines (or 2 right-angle bends). A pair of identical tiles that are adjacent to one another also consist of a valid pair. Keep clearing the tiles until the entire stack of tiles is clear.

The game has 3 difficulty modes, which determines the size of the grid involved. Both the Easy and Normal modes have similar-sized grids, differing only in the number of fruits types to pair. Hard Mode has more fruit types and a significantly larger grid.

Timer & Levels

This game is timed. You are given a set number of minutes in the game’s timer on the top left corner of the game screen (5 for easy and normal, 7 for hard). To win, you must finish the entire puzzle before the timer expires.

Once you finish a level, you can continue playing another one. The timer resets and your previous score is retained. Every subsequent level introduces gravity to the game, which will affect how you plan each move you make based on how the pieces fall.

Power Ups

The game has 2 power ups: hints and shuffles. Hints will show you the location of a valid pair while shuffles will change the location of every tile onscreen. Use hints when you’re stuck to save time and shuffles when you are sure there are too few pairs to be made. If you run out of pairs, the game will use up a shuffle automatically.

The game provides you with 5 shuffles and 3 power ups. You occasionally get an extra power up after you finish and play another level.

Scoring

You earn 100 points for every pair you make. You also receive 1 point for every second remaining in the timer and, at times, an extra 100 points for continuing with another level. Your score is cumulative across all the levels you play.

Your web browser automatically saves your best score. You can compare your latest and previous best scores on the win and game over screens.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Find all obvious pairs first and clear them. These include the pairs that are adjacent to one another and those on the edge rows. Clear as many pairs as you can to make room within and outside the stack so new pairs can form.

In the first level, one of the best places to start clearing is within the stack itself. Past the first level, pay attention to the way gravity works. Once you figure out which direction everything “falls,” you must prioritize removing every pair that will otherwise be lost when things start moving. Likewise, see if you can form new pairs of tiles by removing the ones “beneath” them.

Be wary of fruit tiles that look alike. Even though they may superficially resemble one another, they are not identical.
