Fruit Cubes Game Review
Fruit Cubes Game Background
Fruit Cubes is a spatial space-filling game. Collect pieces from a conveyor and drag and drop them to the grid shown onscreen. Completely fill in the grid with pieces before the timer runs out.
The presence of blocks composed of square units that you must fit together may remind players of the popular line-breaking game Tetris, but the resemblances are superficial.
How to Play Fruit Cubes
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. At the center of the welcome screen, select Play to begin. Select Help to open the game’s tutorial.
Select the individual pieces from the conveyor, then drag and drop them onto the grid. Pieces that you don’t find useful can be dropped onto the wastebasket at the bottom right corner of the screen.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Drag and drop pieces onto the grid. Each level has its own uniquely shaped grid, some of which can have holes inside. The pieces on the conveyor are determined at random and will always consist of at least 2 units. Fill as many spaces in the grid as possible using the pieces that pass by; you win the level when only single-unit spaces are left behind.
The game has a time limit of 5 minutes per level. You will fail the level if you run out of time. The game lets you replay the levels you failed an infinite number of times.
The game has 60 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Your web browser saves your game progress; each time you reload the game, you begin at the latest level you’ve unlocked. You will be unable to replay previous levels without clearing your previous game progress.
You have 2 power ups, which you can use 3 times each. The first power up lets you clear individual spaces, while the second one lets you fill in a single space.
Your points are added to your score at the end of each level. You gain points based on the number of spaces you manage to cover. You also gain extra points based on the remaining seconds left on the timer. Each remaining single space will deduct 100 points from your final score.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Early on, it’s better to wait for optimal pieces as you still have a time horizon. Much later in the game, be prepared to make quick compromises to finish the level before the timer expires. Be flexible. Sometimes, you’ll need to deal with the hand you’re given instead of the hand yo
As much as possible, try to save the filler power up for when you’re about to finish the level. Have at least a few spaces that you can fill in with one of the pieces open first. Fill in all the single spaces you can, then wait until the pieces .
If you find that you’re running out of time, consider finishing the level with a few single empty spaces left. This is especially important if you don’t seem to be getting the one piece you need to complete the puzzle.
Educational Aspects
This game hones players’ visual space management skills. They must find a way to fit in odd pieces into equally awkward spaces quickly and efficiently.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend this game for those who enjoy space-filling puzzle games reminiscent of Tetris.
