Vampires and Garlic is an Angry Birds-inspired level destruction game. Defeat the vampires in the level by either tossing garlic at them or at objects that, when hit, cause a chain reaction that destroy the vampires. Earn a high rating by taking out the vampires with as few bulbs of garlic as possible.

How to Play Vampires and Garlic

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Play to bring up the level selection screen. Choose a level number to begin.

On a desktop, move your mouse cursor around to aim and charge your shot. Left click to shoot. On a touchscreen device, tap on the screen with your fingers and swipe to aim and charge your shot, then release to shoot.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Take out the vampires either by hitting them with garlic bulbs or by hitting them with objects knocked down or triggered by the garlic bulbs. Aim with care to trigger complex chain reactions to deal with the vampires. The garlic bulb itself is incendiary; upon landing, there is a short delay before it explodes.

You only have a limited amount of garlic bulbs in each level. The more bulbs you use to take out the vampires, the lower your star rating will be. Take out every vampire onscreen using the fewest number of garlic bulbs to earn the highest star rating (3 stars). Use up all all your bulbs and you fail the level.

The game has 30 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve already beaten.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The game’s background has elements such as trees that you can use to measure the distance of each shot. Use them as a guide to help track the strength and angle of your shots and plan your adjustments accordingly. In the early game, it makes sense to shoot one bulb at the time so you can track your performance and make the necessary refinements.

In some levels, you must use the garlic to hit weights, which would cause platforms linked by rope to move. You may often need to shoot multiple garlic bulbs in rapid succession to get past these mechanisms, allowing one to act as a weight and the other to move across.

Other levels have spinning or moving platforms that act as obstacles. To get past moving platforms, you’d want to fire while the platform is moving up. Getting through spinning platforms, meanwhile, requires shooting twice. One bulb spins the platform and creates an opening while the other moves past it and moves toward the desired target.

Later levels are complex and challenging. If it took you a long time to even finish a level, be content with leaving it at a lower star rating and move on. You can always come back to replay the other levels later.
