Feed the Snake Game Background

Feed the Snake is an escape room-styled snake game. Guide the snake to the fruit to make it grow longer and collect the keys to unlock the door. Guide the snake to the door to exit the level.

How to Play Feed the Snake

To select, left click with your mouse. Select the play button near the bottom right corner of the welcome screen to load the level selection screen.

With your keyboard, use the arrow keys to move. Press the left arrow to move to the left, the right arrow to move to the right, the up arrow to move up, and the down arrow to move down. In this game, you can move neither diagonally or in reverse.

Although the game might load for touchscreen devices, its controls were optimized for desktops with keyboards.

Basic Gameplay Advice

You play as a hungry snake. Your goal is to retrieve the keys needed to move the snake out of the level. Like in the OG mobile snake games, you cannot let the snake hit the walls. Eat the fruit that appears onscreen to get longer and score more points. Once you’ve collected the needed keys, move toward the opened door somewhere in the level and enter it. The number of keys you must collect increase in later levels.

Unlike other snake games, you begin with three lives. Each time you hit your tail or the wall, you lose a life. Lose all your lives and you lose the entire playthrough. Hitting the wall and your own tail have their own consequences. Colliding with your own tail will cause you to revert to your original length while colliding with a wall will do nothing.

Every once in a while, the super tongue power up appears onscreen. Collect it before it disappears. The super tongue power up allows you to grab all the fruits onscreen at once for a few seconds.

The game is divided into 6 realms and several levels. Levels and realms are unlocked sequentially; finish all the levels in one realm to unlock the next. Your lives are tied to your completion of the playthrough. If you lose all your lives, you must begin the realm in the last level you’ve unlocked.

You have a limited amount of time to collect the keys needed to exit the level.

Every fruit you eat is worth 50 points. You can compare your latest and best scores on the game over screen.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

You have an increased chance of hitting the walls each time you take the super tongue power up. Move with care and pay attention to your surroundings.

There can be multiple gates in each level. Choose the one that’s closest to you or won’t put you at the risk of hitting the walls.

This game hones a player’s hand-eye coordination and response times. Players must make lightning-fast movement decisions to evade crashes and collect food items effectively.
