How to Play Crossy Cat

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select a game language on the language selection screen to bring up the welcome screen. On the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.

Select anywhere and hold to charge your jump, then release to jump.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Hop from one side of the ravine to the next and back again. Continue this until you’ve hopped enough times to proceed to the next level. Avoid hitting the blocks. Each time you hit a block, it disappears but you lose a life. Lose all 3 of your lives and it’s game over. Every time you cross, the arrangements of blocks and fish is re-rolled.

To earn points, collect the orange or red fish. Orange fish give you 3 points while red fish give you 10 points. Avoid picking up gray fish bones; they will deduct 3 points from your total score.

At times, a bomb will appear on the side you’re on. You must hop to the next side before the bomb explodes. Be extra quick when two bombs spawn on either side; the only way to avoid losing a life is to be mid-jump when they explode.

Sometimes, a Super Mario-inspired box will appear above the cat. Hit this as many times as you can to earn extra points. These typically emerge before you conclude a level, but don’t often appear.

Every two levels, you must deal with a boss, a caterpillar-like creature comprising of several segments. To defeat the boss, you must take out each segment by bumping into them. The boss protects the segments either through spikes on the other side of the segment or by a moving pair of spikes. Clear all the segments to win.

The fish you collect can be used to unlock new hats. Each time you earn enough, you can unlock the hat using the roulette screen. Hats are unlocked at random. You can also unlock new jumping animals using the Catmachine. You can operate the Catmachine after collecting 100 points. The other animals are also unlocked at random.

The game has a set of colored items that you can collect. These are often found in a space between two close blocks and can be difficult to clear.

Every time the game ends, select the play button at the bottom center to play again. You can replay the game infinite times.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Pay close attention to the number of blocks you need to clear. Ideally, you should aim to jump as high as you think you can clear. If the safest space to hop is somewhere in the middle, select and hold long enough to clear that distance. Note that you cannot de-charge your shot once you start charging. Unless there’s a bomb in your side, it’s best to take it slow and charge your jump only when you’re sure you want to jump.

Beginners can, whenever possible, choose to clear the highest space if it’s free. If it isn’t, try aiming for the middle spaces. Unless you’re confident in your skill at tapping or clicking, we recommend aiming for the widest gaps.

Educational Aspects

The game hones a player’s reaction times, hand-eye coordination, and touch sensitivity. A player must be able to touch and release at the ideal moment to jump the desired distance.
