Candyland Game Background

Candyland is a sweets-themed match-3 game. Form rows of 3 or more identical candies to clear them from the grid. Clear the required number of specific candies within the number of moves provided to beat each level.

How to Play Candyland

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select the play button at the center to open the level selection screen. Select any unlocked level to begin.

To form rows, select one piece of candy, then select another horizontally or vertically adjacent piece to have them switch places. If the switch forms at least one valid row of 3 identical candies, the candies stay in place and the ones in the valid row are removed from the grid. Otherwise, the candies return to their original positions.

Once you clear a row, the candies above it will fall to fill the space left behind. This becomes critical in later levels as the unusual shapes mean that candies may not always fall into convenient spots. Whenever the candies form valid rows, these too will be cleared.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your goal is to clear the target number of 3 specified candies shown on the second tow within the number of moves specified on the top right. The higher the level, the more of each type of candy you’ll need to clear. You will lose if you fail to clear all the candies specified before you run out of turns.

The game has 60 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can go back and replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten.

Levels have varying layouts, with some having spaces cut out of them. Each time you clear a row above a space, the candies above the cut-out space will fall down to where you cleared the candies. You cannot switch candies when a cut-out space stands between them.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Effective clearing is the key to playing well. Focus on making rows on the upper part of each grid. Consider the way the candies fall and choose the ones that don’t eliminate other potential rows. As much as possible, focus on clearing all the obvious horizontal rows early on.

Conserve your moves. Stick to clearing the candies you need first as much as possible. When you can’t clear the needed candies, focus on clearing rows that trigger chain reactions. This will not only refresh the number of candies present (giving you more chances to clear the ones you need) but also let you conserve moves.

The game has no time limit. Take all the time you need to consider each move before making it.
