Candy Bubble Game Review

Candy Bubble Game Background

Candy Bubble is a candy-theme connect-3 game that plays similarly to Tetris. Drop down blocks made of 3 colored pieces down a shaft. Connect 3 or more identical pieces horizontally, vertically, and diagonally to collect them. Collect the target number of pieces indicated to beat each level.

This game was developed by Zygomatic.

How to Play Candy Bubble

Select by left clicking with your mouse or tapping on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Play on the bottom left corner to begin.

On a desktop, use your keyboard or left click on the onscreen buttons with your mouse. Press the left and right arrow keys to move the block from side to side. Press the up arrow key to change the arrangement of each piece on the block. Press the down arrow key to drop the block faster. Press the space bar to re-orient the block.

On a touchscreen device, tap on the arrow buttons provided. Tap on the left and right arrows to move blocks horizontally. Tap on the down arrow to drop blocks faster. Tap on the up arrow to shuffle the pieces within the block. Tap on the circular arrow to switch the block’s orientation.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic Rules

Blocks will slowly drop-down the play area Tetris-style. You can move the blocks around and place them where you think they should go. Blocks appear onscreen vertically but can be oriented horizontally as needed. With the blocks, form groups of 3 identical pieces to clear them. These can be horizontal, vertical, or diagonal. When laid down horizontally, a block will fall apart if there are spaces below it.

To beat each level, clear the required number of pieces indicated on the lower right side of the screen. If the stack of blocks reaches the top of the screen, it’s game over.

Levels & Scoring

The game has 10 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Each time you reload the game, you have the option to start a new session or continue from the last level you unlocked. You cannot replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten without resetting your progress.

From Level 2 onwards, you begin a level with multiple pieces already piled up at the bottom of the screen. The game gives you the opportunity to remove all the pieces of a single color before the level begins.

Each piece you clear is worth 50 points individually. The lowest number of points you can earn from clearing a row is 150. Your score is cumulative across every level. You can save your score on the leaderboard if you finish all 10 levels or choose to quit after a game over. View the leaderboard by selecting High Scores on the welcome screen.

Power Ups

Some blocks come with power up pieces that clear up entire rows or columns of blocks regardless of color. The direction their arrows point indicate the direction they will clear. Use these wisely.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Plan your moves with care. We recommend thinking two moves ahead. The game helpfully shows you the next piece that you’ll be dropping.

Play slowly. Dropping blocks willy-nilly can cause you to place them in the wrong spot by accident, throwing off your plans. Gently bring down the blocks to where they should go and course-correct when necessary.

Rethink putting blocks in vertically. Sometimes, a horizontally oriented block may work better for a specific situation. These include not only forming new rows but also utilizing power ups.

Take advantage of the game’s opening to whittle down your starting stack of pieces. Choose the piece that appears the most onscreen.

Educational Aspects

This game helps develop a player’s spatial thinking skills, especially surrounding pattern recognition and space management, and hand-eye coordination.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend it for players who enjoy connect 3 games.
