Water the Village Game Review

Water The Village Game Background

Water The Village is a pipe logic puzzle game where your goal is to finish a system of pipes to pump clean water and sewage for a small community using the number of pieces you’ve been provided with.

This game was created and developed by Geriesh Games.

How to Play Water The Village

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select Start on the bottom left corner of the screen to open the level selection screen. Choose an unlocked level’s number to begin.

Select a section of the grid then drag to lay down pipes.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic Rules

Create a network of pipes that connect all the houses in the neighborhood and all preexisting pipes to the water main. You have a limited number of pipes to lay down for your network. Once you’re out of a type of pipe, you can’t lay down any more of them.

If you make a mistake, select any section of pipe to remove them. A few parts can’t be removed from the pipe system, which is indicated by the red wrench icon with an X on your cursor or fingertips. You can remove timers built into your system to make water move faster; we recommend doing this when the system is complete.

Finish the pipe system as quickly as you can. As soon as the water starts flowing, you must work even faster to finish the network. You will fail the level if water flows out of the pipe network.

Building a Network

Water in the game emerges from two sources, a hot one in red and a cold one in blue. These can go to homes, sewer drains or other mains. Arrows indicate where pipes carrying a specific type of water can connect. Red arrows are for hot water, blue arrows are for cold water, and green arrows are for sewage. A pipe carrying these fluids must connect to the correct arrow to work.

A working system must link all available intakes to their designated outflows. The first few levels are simpler, with houses and mains serving as outflows. Later levels incorporate sewage drains and other elements as outflow. Water cannot loop inside houses. Moreover, each type of water should only flow within their own systems; dirty and clean water should never mix upon reaching their destinations

Water can mix at any point in the network. If hot and cold water meet, the water downstream will take on the temperature of whichever water gets to the pipe first. Meanwhile, if sewage connects with clean water, the rest of the pipe becomes sewage until it reaches a filter.

Levels

The game has 24 levels, of which 14 are playable. The levels are unlocked sequentially; your web browser automatically saves your level progress. Each level has a star rating, which is based on how well you accomplish level goals.

Features

Each level has a number of features that affect the movement and nature of the water flow. They are as follows:

  • Fan pumps: These increase the speed of water flow.
  • Junctures: These let you split the direction the water flow into two while slowing it down. They are important features to consider when building complex systems that must reach several houses at once.
  • Timers: These resemble the timers in the mains. They slow down the flow of water for about 5 seconds at a time.
  • Net filters: These turn sewage into clean water.
  • Chillers: These turn hot water cold.
  • Solar heaters: These turn cold water hot.

Metal blocks act as obstacles to your pipe system. You cannot remove them; you must work your pipes around them instead.

Scoring & Star Ratings

You receive 100 points for every segment of pipe the water passes. You also receive an extra 500 points for every remaining piece of pipe you haven’t used. On top of that, you’ll receive bonus points for removing timers.

Your star rating is based on your level score. The higher your score, the higher your star rating will be. The highest star rating for a level is 3 stars.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Plan your paths around water flow. The first thing you need to do is to look at the layout of the screen. Check out the locations of various features, including immovable items like metal blocks. Also be on the lookout for elements such as junctions that can help extend the reach of your network without using up too many pipe pieces.

Look closely at the pipe pieces you have. From there, you can determine which primary directions you can use in your pipe system.

If water needs to mix in a pipe network, pay attention to what temperature you need downstream. Open the valve containing the water temperature you need before the other. For instance, if you need hot water, release the hot water valve before the cold water one.

Educational Aspects

This game challenges players’ spatial logic and develops their space planning and resource management skills.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suited for older school-aged players and above; younger players may find it too challenging to figure out. We recommend this game for people who like pipe logic games.
