Sushi Matching is a sushi roll-themed connect 3 matching game. Connect 3 or more identical sushi rolls to earn points. Win by clearing the required number of the sushi rolls indicated on the bottom row before the timer runs out.

How to Play Sushi Matching

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select the button at the center of the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen. On the welcome screen, select the play button at the bottom center to open the level selection screen. On the level selection screen, select an unlocked level number to begin.

Select a sushi roll, then select its neighbor to have them switch places. Sushi rolls can switch places horizontally or vertically. They will only remain in place if the switch results in a row of 3 or more identical sushi rolls.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Basic Rules

Your main goal is to clear the number of sushi rolls specified on the bottom row before the timer expires. Form horizontal or vertical rows of 3 or more sushi rolls to clear them from the grid. Meet the stated goals as quickly as you can. If you fail to meet your target in time, you will fail and must replay the level.

Besides the sushi rolls themselves, you must also remove the wooden squares beneath them. To remove a square, clear a row that includes the sushi roll above it. You must clear all the wooden squares in levels that have them.

Power Ups

As you play through the game, you encounter power ups. Activate these bonuses by selecting them. Each power up provides a different benefit.

• The bomb takes out all the sushi rolls in its immediate radius.
• The hourglass grants an extra few seconds of time.

Scoring & Star Ratings

Your score is based on both the number of sushi rolls you clear. Each sushi roll is worth 30 points apiece, with 90 being the minimum score you earn for every move. You also gain bonus points from the number of seconds remaining on the timer once you finish.

Each level has a star rating based on your score. The higher your score, the higher your star rating will be. The highest rating you can receive is 3 starts,

Levels

The game has 25 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. The level selection screen is patterned after a map of Japan, and the levels pass through them in a winding path.

• Levels 1 and 2 appear in Kyushu.
• Levels 3 through 4 and 7 through 18 appear in Honshu.
• Levels 5 and 6 appear in Shikoku.
• Levels 19 through 25 appear in Hokkaido.

Your web browser automatically saves your game progress. You can replay any of the levels you’ve already beaten. To replay a level, return to the welcome screen by selecting the X button on the top right corner, the select the double play button on the bottom right corner. Selecting the play button on the bottom left will clear your game progress.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Use the power ups to your advantage. Bombs, when triggered at the right time, can trigger the creation of several valid rows, which will help you save time in meeting the required number of sushi rolls. Seize the opportunity to use the hourglasses to extend your playing time. Using power ups also help bolster your score by clearing more tiles and adding more time at the end of the playthrough.

In a level with wooden squares, prioritize the removal of the squares whenever you can. The number of these you need to clear out will always be the same amount present.

The game will, after a few seconds, show hints by shaking a pair of sushi rolls that you can clear. Do not be overly reliant on this system as the game will constantly hint at any valid pair. The pairs it highlights will not necessarily be the ones you need to finish the level.
