Zombie Killer Game Review

Zombie Killer Game Background

Zombie killer is a zombie apocalypse-themed tower defense game that plays similarly to Plants vs. Zombies. As a lone soldier up against a seemingly endless horde of zombies, set up defenses and take out as many zombies as you can. Upgrade each of your defenses after each wave concludes. Don’t let even one zombie get past you.

How to Play Zombie Killer

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. To start, select the play button at the center of the welcome screen.

The desktop controls use the keyboard, though you can also select the onscreen controls using the mouse. Press the up and down arrow keys to move the soldier vertically. Press the 1, 2, and 3 buttons to toggle between the available weapons and press the A key to shoot. Press the S key to summon the helicopter.

On a touchscreen device, use the onscreen controls on the bottom row. Tap on the up and down buttons on the bottom left corner to move vertically between the spaces. Press the weapon buttons on the bottom center to switch between unlocked weapons. On the bottom right, press the helicopter button to summon the helicopter and press the shoot button to fire at the zombies.

Basic Gameplay Advice

The goal in this game is to survive wave upon wave of zombies by attacking and destroying zombies using the defenses you’ve set up.

The layout is similar to Plants vs. Zombies; players must defend 3 horizontal rows that the zombies travel on. Zombies appear from the right side of the screen and lurch toward the defenses on the left. Boxes will keep the zombies out for a little while, but you must shoot the zombies to take them out. Unlike Plants vs. Zombies and similar tower defense games, you only get one shooter. He will need to move from row to row to attack the zombies.

If you find yourself overwhelmed, summon the helicopter. The helicopter will shoot zombies in its path regardless of their location. After you use it, the helicopter option will need to cool down for a few seconds before you can use it again.

You earn between 10 to 40 coins for every zombie you take out; the harder the zombie is to kill, the greater the reward you’ll receive. After the end of the level, you have the option of using the coins you’ve earned defeating the zombies to buy upgrades. You can upgrade each of the five options six times. You can buy upgrades for the following:

  • Firepower (for three different weapons). Selecting the first upgrades of the other two weapons unlocks them.
  • Barrier strength
  • Helicopter strength

The game has 20 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Your browser automatically saves your game progress. If you fail a level, you have endless chances to play it again. Once you finish a level, you cannot play the others without erasing your previous game data.

The game has 10 different achievement medals. They can be sorted as follows:

  • Number of levels beaten (1, 3, 6, 12, 15, 17, 20)
  • Number of enemies killed (30, 60, 100)

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

In this game, a strong offense is better than a good defense. You’ll find that taking out the zombies faster is more effective at keeping them at bay than strengthening your walls. As soon as you can afford it, upgrade the first gun and unlock the others. We recommend using the more powerful third gun as soon as possible, though the second gun is also a viable choice.

So as not to neglect your defenses (the barriers and the helicopter), consider spending on them when you can’t otherwise afford gun upgrades.

Even a single zombie getting past you is an instant game over. When no zombies are present, try to shoot once at each row to hit the first zombie that appears at least once. Feel free the helicopter as often as you feel you need to.

Using the third gun (the grenade launcher), it’s possible to have your shots bounce off to one of the other rows upon contact and hits anything there. Whenever you’re using this gun, consider staying mostly in the center lane.

Educational Aspects

The game hones a player’s response times, hand-eye coordination, and resource management skills.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suitable for players school-aged and above. We recommend this game for people who like shooting zombies and enjoy tower defense-style games similar to Plants vs. Zombies.
