X-Trial Racing Mountain Adventure Game Review
X-Trial Racing Mountain Adventure Game Background
X-Trial Racing Mountain Adventure is a physics-based motorcycle racing game. Drive a motorcycle down a perilous course and bring it to the finish line without it flipping over and crashing.
The game is the sequel to X-Trial Racing and was designed and developed by Demonte Maximiliano, Dulce Villavicencio, and Enrique Magaña of QKY Games Studio.
How to Play X-Trial Racing Mountain Adventure
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select the play button on the bottom center of the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen. On the welcome screen, select the play button below the game’s title near the center to open the level selection screen. Choose a level to begin.
On a keyboard, press the up arrow key to accelerate and the down arrow key to brake. When moving backwards, use the right arrow key to slow down. Turn the bike using the left and right arrow keys; the left arrow key tilts the bike counterclockwise and the right arrow key tilts the bike clockwise.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Your goal is to reach the finish line without crashing. Levels are not always linear. Some levels have switchbacks and shortcuts that you can take to reach the end of the level faster. Finding the shortcuts sometimes takes a bit of trial and error. Unlike in the predecessor games, the end point or finish line is not always found at the right end of the level. Some finish lines appear in the middle, requiring you to fly backwards toward it.
The game has 30 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any level you’ve previously beaten; this is almost a requirement as you won’t often get a chance to earn all 3 stars in your first try. The next level is automatically unlocked the moment you finish the previous level, regardless of your star rating.
You earn stars based on how fast you finish a level. Each level has different thresholds to earn star ratings; the faster you finish the course, the higher your star rating will be. Like in the previous game, the stars you earn don’t just act as a rating for your level performance. They also serve as currency. Replaying a level to earn a higher star level will merely reward you with the missing star, and replaying after achieving a 3-star level gains you nothing.
The game offers several different bikes, which differ significantly in performance. Often you must change bikes to play some levels to completion.
- Gum Pop (3 stars)
- Blizzard (3 stars)
- Pizza Boy (6 stars)
- Panther (6 stars)
- Off-Roader (6 stars)
- Mark 3 (8 stars)
- Commando (8 stars)
- Hot Fuzz (10 stars)
- Sellout (12 stars)
- Vengance (12 stars)
- Hell Rider (16 stars)
You can earn trophies by accomplishing the following actions:
- Finishing a specific number of levels (5, 15, 20, and 30)
- Unlocking 1, 3, and 12 motorcycles
- Collecting 12, 45, and 90 stars
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Speed is a tricky thing in this game. Often, you need to overcome an obstacle by picking up speed while needing to slow down in the next. Trial and error are almost required for many of the later levels; you’ll need to memorize when and where you need to switch speeds to finish some levels without crashing. .
To stick landings, you must often spin the bike mid-air so that it lands wheels-side down. Sticking a landing is a very tricky process for some levels. In some platforms, you need to make a sudden stop to properly land. In others, you need to drive backwards then make an abrupt stop at the end.
Collisions are an instant game over. There are ways to avoid some of the more frequently encountered collisions in the later levels. For instance, sometimes you might find yourself hitting a platform after a jump. To avoid this, rotate the bike mid-air and move your head away from the platform as you pass by.
If you find yourself nearly falling off or risk missing a landing, consider spinning your bike back. This will put more weight on the wheel on the platform, providing you with the needed leverage to stick the landing.
Choose the right bike for the right job. Not every level can be completed with the same kind of bike. If you find yourself unable to make a specific jump, consider switching out your bikes. Try to finish as many levels as you can even if you don’t make the 3-star mark; you’ll need to earn as many stars as you can to unlock better bikes.
The game has 90 stars, which is exactly the amount you need to unlock all the bikes. However, you can skip some of the weaker bikes and go for more powerful ones to save on stars. We recommend unlocking the Hell Rider immediately then replaying the game to
Educational Aspects
Like its predecessor, this game helps develop a player’s motor skills, hand-eye coordination, and touch sensitivity. Players need to carefully balance power and finesse to reach the end goals quickly without crashing.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for older school-aged children and adults. The game is very difficult to master and is not for the impatient; younger players in particular might find the controls too frustrating. We recommend this game mostly for players who like challenging physics platform games.
