Wordler Game Review

Wordler Game Background

Wordler is a logic-based word-guessing game inspired by Wordle and other similar guessing games. Use inductive reasoning to determine the mystery word within 6 tries.

This game was developed by MarketJS.

How to Play Wordler

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select the large play button at the center of the screen to begin.

Type in the words on your device’s keyboard or tap on the letters on the onscreen keyboard provided on the

Basic Gameplay Advice

You have 6 tries to type in the word. You must type in a valid 5-letter word in the letter spaces provided. Each time you make a guess, you receive any of the following hints based on the letter and its placement on the screen:

  • A letter in a gray space is not found in the word at all.
  • A letter in a yellow space is found in the word, but is in the wrong space.
  • A letter in a green space is found in the word and is in the correct space.

Only words considered valid in the game’s dictionary can be typed in. If you type a word not in the dictionary by accident, it will be erased without penalty. Unlike in Wordle, plurals with an S are counted as valid words. If you are still stumped, you can see the word by selecting Give Up on the top left corner of the screen. This will end your playthrough.

Use the hints to narrow down the possibilities and solve the word. Once you finish a word, you receive points based on the number of guesses it took to solve it. You will then guess another word. Repeat the process until you run out of guesses or give up.

Your score is based on the number of guesses it took to solve the puzzle. Using up all but the last guess grants you 5 points. You gain an extra 1 point for every remaining space grants you 1 more point. Each of your scores is added to your total until the game ends. Your web browser automatically saves your best score; you can compare your current and best scores on the game over screen.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Guessing the word in the first try, while not impossible, is statistically unlikely. Therefore, always use this first guess to establish or eliminate as many common letters as possible. Choose words that contain instances of common consonants (S, T, R, M, N, L, D) or vowels (E, A) like ITEMS or TREAD. While many players swear by eliminating vowels early, other players find focusing on consonants better as it rules out more letters early on. You can also use words that start with Q to both eliminate or confirm the presence of the letters U and O.

Try to lock in as many words as you can by the second guess. Once you’ve locked in at least 3 letters, see if you can guess where they should go, then work from there. On the second guess, you can try using the yellow-space letters twice to find out where they might go (or rule out where they aren’t).

As soon as you’ve got letters in green spaces, narrow down the possibilities by finding words that might fit in these spaces. Use common letter combinations to fill out spaces.

Remember, this game focuses on 5-letter words. Don’t overlook the obvious.
