Word Search is a simple word-finding game. Whether playing alone or with a friend, you must find as many words as possible in the jumbled grid of letters before the timer expires.

How to Play Word Search

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers.

On the welcome screen, select either Classic or Custom to begin. Choose the number of players playing, then choose a category. There are eight categories to choose from; in addition, you have the option of drawing from all categories as well.

Selecting the custom option allows you to alter the size of the letter grid and the number of words you must find.

To find a word, select a letter and drag in any linear direction. The game will show you the word you’re spelling out.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Words can appear from right to left or left to right and appear in any linear direction (horizontal, vertical, or diagonal). The words you need to find appear on the bottom row of the screen.

In single-player games, one player must find all the words (or as many words as possible) within the two minutes provided. In two-player games, each player has 15 seconds to find a word. The player who finds the most words within the time limit provided wins.

Upon finishing the game, you can choose to share it with your friends on Facebook, Twitter, or WhatsApp.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

To look for words, pay attention to their distinctive features and try to match them to any pattern you see on the grid. For instance, if a word has two of the same letter side by side, look for instances of that within the grid.

Look for matches in all directions. Search for the starting letters, then see if it’s possible to spell the word in any of the available directions.

When in doubt, pay attention to what’s being spelled by your selection. Is it spelling the word correctly? Then you’re on the right track.
