Watermelon Wizard Game Background

Watermelon Wizard is a retro-themed teleportation-based platform puzzle game. As a hungry wizard, move toward each of the chests holding watermelons by teleporting at the right locations. Avoid spikes and bonfires along the way.

How to Play Watermelon Wizard

To select, left click with your mouse. On the welcome screen, select the play button at the center to load the level selection screen. Select an unlocked level’s number to begin.

On a desktop, use the keyboard to control the wizard. Press the A or left arrow key to move to the left and the D or right arrow key to move to the right. Press the W or up arrow keys to jump. To teleport, press the S or down arrow keys. To reset the level, press the R key.

Although this game might load on touchscreen devices, its controls were geared toward desktops with keyboards.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your goal is to move to the chests and collect the delicious watermelon slices inside. To move from one chamber to the next, teleport at the right spots. Sometimes, you’ll need to move to the left or right as you teleport or jump to make it to your location. Collect all the watermelons in the level to clear it.

The levels have various features which affect your movement. Spikes and fires will kill you upon contact. Do not teleport to a ceiling with spikes on it. Likewise, you can only teleport on blue ground. You must move away from gray ground to be able to teleport. You must also avoid the white bats that fly around the later levels.

Stepping on the red floor and teleporting will give you temporary immunity to fire. This lasts for at least three teleports. You can switch back to your original form by teleporting beneath an area with nowhere to go. When your fire immunity is active, you are vulnerable to tornadoes. Switch back to your normal form to avoid getting harmed.

The game has 16 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously unlocked during a single playthrough. However, your browser clears your level progress each time you reload the game.

Each time you die, you automatically restart the level.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The game is not timed. Take as much time as you need to study the layout of the level carefully.

Often, each chest in a level needs to be recovered in a specific order. Understanding how each of the elements of the game work is the key to charting your ideal route.

While you can plan out your routes well before you make your move, you can also engage in trial and error to refine your paths further. If one direction didn’t pan out, try a different one.
