Basic Gameplay Advice
Your goal is to navigate through the maze and any foe that stands in the way. To beat a maze, you must choose the path that allows you to reach the stairwell at the end, which isn’t necessarily the one with the most number of foes. Often, you must pick paths that either allow you to defeat all your foes or defeat only the ones you need to survive till the end.
Both you and the enemy have the following stats:
- The hearts indicate your hit points.
- The swords indicate your attack strength. Attack strength takes out hit points.
- The shield indicates your defensive strength. This reduces the damage done to you by enemy attacks.
Your stats appear on the top left corner, while those of your foes appear at the top center. Fights are turn based. Each time you move toward your enemy, you attack them once. They lose hit points based on the number of your attack strength. You will also lose health based on your opponent’s attack strength. If your opponent loses all their hit points during your strike, they perish. Likewise, if you lose all your hit points if you run out of hit points when your enemies attack. You will instantly defeat enemies if your attack strength is significantly higher than their attack, defenses, or hit points.
Super attacks appear as flaming sword icons that give you a temporary attack strength of 999. It is a one-time use item and there are a limited number in each level. Use them wisely.
Some levels have numbered gates. The number on these gates go down as you slay enemies and open once its number reaches zero. Likewise, there are some gates that only allow you to go in a specific direction. This is indicated by the arrow shown onscreen.
This game has 20 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Your web browser automatically saves your level progress. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Choose your battles wisely. You may not have enough hearts to go through paths with more enemies. Likewise, you might need to battle enemies in a specific order. Some are probably best reserved when you’ve increased your fighting strength considerably. By acquiring weapons and shields first, you conserve your hit points.
The arrowed paths can funnel you into a specific part of the level. Choose branching paths wisely based on what you can get from them. Make sure to pick out routes that equip you with what you need (be it weapons and shields or more hit points) and avoid getting into locations where you’re effectively trapped.
Sometimes, the only way to beat a level is through trial and error. Memorize where you went wrong and consider alternate paths as you replay each level.
