UnTetris Game Review
UnTetris Game Background
UnTetris is a Tetris-inspired shape logic puzzle game. You begin with a set of 4-unit pieces (tetrominos) that you must fit into the spaces provided. Rotate and place the pieces so that the space is completely covered by non-overlapping pieces.
This game was published by Daniel Kobus, who also goes by Kodeleo.
How to Play UnTetris
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. To start the game, select the play button at the center of the welcome screen.
Select the shapes, then drag and drop them to place them onto the grid. Select the arrows below the shapes to rotate them clockwise.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Your goal is to place all the shapes on the bottom of the screen onto the grid shown at the center. The grid consists of solid-colored spaces, while the shapes (tetrominos, like in Tetris) appear transparent with a white outline. Each time you place a shape onto the grid, you cut out the red squares from it. Cut out the entire grid using all of the shapes to finish each level.
If you make a mistake, you have the following option on the top right corner of the screen:
- Select the undo button to reverse the last action you made.
- Select the reset button to start the level from the beginning.
The game has 25 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten. Access the level selection screen by selecting the grid button on the bottom right corner.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Pay attention to the shapes of every tetromino before placing them in. Sometimes, the correct orientation of a certain tetromino is not always obvious. Make sure to compare the placement with the shapes of the others before laying it down. If placing a piece a certain way stops the others from fitting in, consider rotating it.
Trial and error are your allies. The game has no time limit and infinite retries.
Educational Aspects
This game hones players’ visual logic and spatial thinking skills.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend this game for fans of shape logic spatial puzzle games.
