Truck Traffic Game Review
Truck Traffic Game Background
Truck Traffic is a 2D obstacle avoidance driving game. Drive a truck down the road and avoid the cars and other oncoming obstacles that stand in your way. Try to reach your destination without causing too much damage along the way.
How to Play Truck Traffic
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select Play on the bottom center of the loading screen to bring up the welcome screen. Select Play at the center of the welcome screen to open the level selection screen. Choose a level to begin.
The truck automatically moves forward. On a desktop, press the left and right arrow keys on the keyboard to steer. On a touchscreen device, tap on the left arrow on the bottom left corner to steer left and the right arrow on the bottom right corner to steer right.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Your job is to steer the truck without hitting any of the reckless drivers on the road. Avoid hitting the cars and other obstacles on the road until you reach your destination. The distance remaining before your arrival is indicated by the number on the top center of the screen.
The game has 18 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten. Your web browser automatically saves your game progress; select the Clear Data button on the welcome screen to clear your previous progress.
You earn a star rating based on your performance on the road. Each time you hit a car or truck, the meter drops. Once the meter drops past a specific mark, you lose a star rating. Your star rating can drop to zero, but you can still finish the level unless the meter is completely empty. When the meter is completely depleted, you fail the level and must start over anew.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Try to anticipate the path taken by the vehicles as best you can. The three types of car on the road behave differently yet predictably. Yellow cars largely remain on their side of the road at all times. Green cars switch over by one lane; to avoid them, simply move into the lane they originally were in. Red cars are more difficult to avoid, as they swerve back and forth in a wave-like pattern across all lanes. In later levels, you also have to deal with other trucks and a medley of other obstacles like warning signs. Trucks follow a similar logic to the cars.
Educational Aspects
The game hones players’ hand-eye coordination and reaction times. It also encourages strategic thinking, as the vehicles on the road move in a predictable way. Due to its ramping difficulty, it also teaches players to be persistent and patient.
Player Age Recommendations
The early levels of this game is suited for players school-aged and above. Due to the increasing difficulty, the later levels are better suited for older players. We recommend this game for players who like simple driving and evasion games.
