Basic Gameplay Advice
Basic Rules
In this game, you must shoot the arrows at the objects mentioned in the opening screen of each level. Unlike in real life, arrows move straight from left to right and disappear when they move past the edge of the game screen. The arrows you shoot tend to move slower than the objects you’re trying to hit.
The objects in each level vary from stationary targets to moving objects such as balloons and bats. Objects can move upward or in a specific pattern. Unlike arrows, objects that move offscreen will reappear somewhere else in the level. Balloons that move to the top edge reappear on the bottom of the screen, while bats that move to the left edge reappear on the right. You must only shoot the objects specified at the start of the level; sometimes, you must shoot specific objects past a group of others that obscure your shot.
Most balloons typically need only 1 arrow to take down. Bats may take several shots to take out.
You only have a limited number of shots available on each level (15 at the start of the game), which is shown on the bottom right corner of the game screen. When you run out of shots, it’s game over.
Scoring
The score value of each item varies. For stationary targets, the base value is 250; the value increases by 250 points with every consecutive hit you land. Red balloons are worth 350 each. Hitting multiple balloons with one arrow will add a multiplier to your score; the second balloon hit is 700 points, the third 1,050, and the fourth 1,500. Orange balloons have a base value of 750 points; each subsequent one hit increases in value by another 750 points.
In addition, every unused arrow remaining in the arrow count adds another 500 points to your score. Early in the game most of your score will be from left over arrows, though as stages get harder you will earn more of the points from hitting balloons and bats. Your score is cumulative across all the levels you played. Your web browser automatically plays your best score; you can view your best score on the game over screen.
Lives
You start the game with 5 lives; these become relevant in the levels where bats appear. The bats are aggressive and will attack you if you don’t shoot them down quickly enough. Each time a bat attacks, you lose a life. Lose all your lives and it’s game over.
Walkthrough
The game has 10 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Each time you fail one level, you must restart the game from the first level. This also applies if you quit the game.
The first level involves simple target shooting. Shoot arrows at the stationary targets to finish the level.
From the second level onwards, you must deal with moving targets. The second and third levels in the game have you hit red balloons. Hit 5 red balloons in the second level and 15 balloons in the third.
In the fourth level, you must hit 5 yellow balloons amidst a group of red balloons. Hitting the red balloons will freeze your arrow. The yellow balloons themselves move rather quickly. Unlike in the previous levels, you’re given only 7 balloons.
In the fifth level, you must hit 5 green balloons, which move in random directions. You must finish the level within 10 points.
By the sixth level, you must contend with bats. Bats move from toward you and move up and down along the way. Jump over them if they get close and
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Patience and careful timing are the keys to success. The first thing you should understand is that the arrow must travel down the path before it hits anything. Position the archer in a place some vertical distance from your target, then wait the requisite time before shooting. The game is untimed, so you can conserve your arrows and shoot only when the conditions are right.
Educational Aspects
This game teaches players about the importance of travel time when trying to hit objects. Players must shoot objects not when it comes to view but shortly before, taking account the distance it needs to travel before it hits the object.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above. We recommend it for patient players who like challenging archery-style games.
