How to Play Switch Magic

Press the play button in the lower center of the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen. Tap on a level number to start the associated level.

Move left by pressing the A key or the left arrow key.

Move right by pressing the D key or the right arrow key.

Jump by pressing the W key or the up arrow key.

Cast a magic ball by pressing the J key or the spacebar. By default you cast a magic ball in the direction you are facing. If you would like the magic ball to target a specific box you can left click on the magic box first then the magic ball will move in whichever direction is needed to hit the box.

Basic Gameplay Advice

The goal of this game is to safely make it to the green gem. Avoid running into spikes or falling off platform.

Green boxes can be pushed and used as temporary platforms. You can also have boxes stacked atop each other.

You can switch positions with blue boxes by hitting them with an energy ball. Blue boxes which are floating in space when you switch positions will fall until they land on a fixed platform.

Black boxes are similar to blue boxes, except they can also float in space.

If the gem is gray (rather than green) you may need to put a box over a red button to activate the gem and turn it green.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

In some cases you have to use particular boxes in multiple locations multiple times (e.g. to climb onto a platform to reach another box or to stack atop another box to reach a platform, and to create a floating platform or to activate a switch).

Some of the movements with the black boxes require split second timing as you have to use them to create what amounts to a floating ladder, where you are able to make each incremental jump while not falling off into the abyss.

If you make a mistake with the placement of a black box and it is not above a fixed platform you are probably better off hitting the R key to reset the letter than to try to recover from the issue.

This game is fun for players of all ages, though by the time you get about halfway through the game it is quite challenging, so we recommend the game for students in junior high or above.
