Super Penguboy Game Background

Super Penguboy is a 2D side-scrolling platform game featuring a penguin that can fly thanks to a jetpack. Collect coins and stars, take out bad guys, and avoid hazards as you make your ways to the end of each level.

The game was developed by Joffre Macedo Neto.

How to Play Super Penguboy

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Start to begin a new playthrough or Continue to resume a previous one. Select How to Play to open the game’s tutorial.

On a desktop, use your keyboard to control your character. Press the A key to move left and the D key to move right. Press the W key to jump, the J key to use the jetpack, the K key to use the parachute, and the L key to fire the laser gun.

On a touchscreen device, control your character by tapping on the buttons on the bottom row with your fingers. You can find the left and right arrow buttons on the bottom left corner and the jetpack, laser, parachute, and up arrow buttons on the bottom right corner.

Due to the arrangement of the game’s keyboard controls, left-handed players will have an easier time playing on a desktop.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Overview

Your goal is to reach the end of the level. Collect all 3 stars and pick up as many coins as you can along the way. Take out the enemies you encounter by shooting them with your laser.

Fire up the jetpack to help you reach parts of the level too high up for you to otherwise reach. It has a limited amount of power, which limits the extent you can uses. Once empty, the jetpack gradually recharges. Should your jetpack run out of power mid-flight, you will fall.

Levels & Scoring

The game has 15 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. Each level’s icon contains a star rating, which indicates what you’ve previously earned when playing through that level. Feel free to replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten to improve your score and star ratings. Your web browser automatically saves your level progress and other game data.

Each level has its own score. Although your star rating and high score are technically separate, they are related. You must collect all 3 stars to get the highest possible level score. You earn points by collecting stars and coins and by vanquishing enemies. Each coin is worth 325 points, each enemy 1,000 points, and each star 10,000 points.

Hearts, Enemies, & Hazards

You start off each level with 3 hearts, which serve as your hit points. You lose a heart each time you are hit but can gain a new one by picking them up. There are a limited number of hearts scattered around the level, so be sure to use them only when needed. Lose all your hearts and you must restart the level.

The game has 3 kinds of hazards in each level: chasms, enemies, and swinging axes. Chasms are unique in that falling into them consumes all of your lives regardless of how many you have left. To avoid falling off chasms, simply reach the next platform across. Use your jetpack or parachute to cross very wide chasms.

Enemies will attack you if you get too close to them. Use your laser to take them out. Shooter and axes, meanwhile, cannot be hit by your laser. Time your movements to get past them. Spikes are stationary. Jump over them as you would with chasms.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Consider overshooting when using your jetpack. Go slightly above your target so that you use up all your jetpack’s power. This will charge it up again for the next time you need to use it. Do note that you should only do this when you are sure to land somewhere secure.
