How to Play Save Princess

Press the spacebar on the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen. Select a level to play from the level select screen.

Use the arrow keys to move the princess around the stages.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Make it safely to the checkered flag to advance to the next stage. This game has 36 stages which are unlocked sequentially.

Avoid falling off course and do not run into spikes, spikers, or enemies on your journey.

Some spikes are retractable while other spikes are not. Run over red button switches to turn retractable spikes off for 5 moves.

If an enemy or spiker is blocking your path you may need to make a move which puts them out of sync with you. Move over arrow boxes to change directions and to make your character out of sync with other enemies.

When you pass over ice you keep sliding in the direction you moved until you reach a square which is not ice or an arrow box which changes your direction. The movement sequence over ice (or arrow boxes which push you from box to box) is considered a single move (as it relates to the spinning spikers and the 5 move limit on red buttons), even if you move many squares. Be sure there is an arrow or a non-ice square to land on when you move across ice, or else sliding on the ice will throw you off platform!

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Levels are not timed, so take your time out to observe and explore before moving.

Sometimes you need to make a move to the exact square an enemy or spiker is on, knowing that it will move or change states while you make your move.

Many stages require you to make a circuitous route in order to align aspects like your movements versus the direction spikers point, or the red button push with the 5 move limit on spikes.
