How to Play Risky Train Crossing

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select the play button to begin.

On a desktop, use the keyboard to move. Press the up arrow key to move forward. Press the left and right arrow keys to move sideways. You cannot move backward.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Move forward and cross as many railroad tracks and rivers for as long as you can. Cross a railroad track as quickly as you can before the train arrives. Cross rivers by jumping on floating lily pads. Hop off the lily pads before they pass through the cave. Don’t get run over or hit any of the trains.

Move from side to side to find gaps between the trees. You can stop in lanes without trains for as long as you can.

Use coins to unlock new characters to play. You can pick up coins as you walk through the game or you can earn them from winning achievements. The game has 21 playable characters, of which 20 can be unlocked.

The game has 50 achievements, which you can win over the course of several attempts. You will be alerted each time you finish an achievement,

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Be patient and choose the appropriate time to cross. The game does not scroll away, giving you ample time to wait out the passing of the trains.

Do not chase after coins. Collect them only if they are in convenient spaces. Moving sideways in a rail to collect coins will put you in peril.

Do most of your sideways movements in the “safe” rows with no tracks. Use these places to move to a more a more ideal position (e.g. away from trees, middle of the river), with no risk.

Educational Aspects

This game tests players’ hand-eye coordination and hones their ability to spot and evade approaching obstacles. It also imparts the important lesson of not staying in railway tracks for too long.
