RingyDingy Game Review
RingyDingy Game Background
RingyDingy is a rave-themed line clearing game inspired by tic-tac-toe. Place neon-colored glowing circles on each of the concentric slots on the grid. Form horizontal, vertical, or diagonal lines of identically colored circles to earn points. Keep playing for as long as you can.
This game was developed by RavalMatic.
How to Play RingyDingy
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select Play on the bottom center of the welcome screen to begin. This will play the game’s tutorial. Select the yellow arrow on the bottom right corner to browse through the tutorial.
Select a circle, then drag and drop them into the grid. Each space on the grid has slots for 3 different sized circles, which can be nestled within one another. The rings can come pre-nestled in various colors.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Basic Rules
Drag and drop randomly generated rings into the grid. You can only place rings in spaces that have an open slot for them. Form either a line or a stack to clear rings from the grid. Keep forming lines and stacks until the grid is completely full. Once the grid runs out of space, it’s game over. On the game over screen, select Restart to play again.
Lines & Stacks
A line consists of a single continuous horizontal, vertical, or diagonal set of spaces with at least one ring of any size. If a space in a line has two rings of the same color, both will be removed with the rest of the row. Rings of a different color from the rest of the line will be left behind.
A stack is formed when you place three concentric rings of the same color within the same space. Stacks will clear every ring of that color in the entire grid.
Scoring
Each piece removed from a line is worth 5 points, for a minimum of 15 points for every line cleared. Every piece from a stack, meanwhile, is worth 10 points. The minimum you can get from a stack is 30 points.
Forming multiple lines in one move creates a combo, which adds a multiplier to your score. The multiplier is calculated as the total of each individual line times the number of lines cleared. Multipliers are capped at five times the number of lines
Assistance
You have two assistance options, which are available on the bottom corners of the game screen. You can select each of these up to three times, which can help you avoid premature game overs. Use them only when you need them.
Rerolls let you discard your current ring and replace it with a new one. This new ring is decided at random, and it may or may not be useful. Swipes, meanwhile, let you shift the position of the pre-existing rings within the grid. Use the arrows that appear on each edge of the grid to move the spaces in that specific direction.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
When choosing assistance options, go for swipes first. In many cases, these offer a sure way to get you out of a bad situation. Often, all it takes is a carefully timed swipe to form both rows and combos, giving you a score boost while freeing up space. Choose the line you move with care; the move should automatically form one (preferably more) line.
Using rerolls is much more unpredictable. There’s no guarantee that the next piece you get will be useful. Thus, save these for when you have an abysmally bad piece or have no other options otherwise.
The game helpfully points out which spaces you can place your pieces in. However, you must still exercise good judgment before placing any of the pieces in the spaces indicated. Sometimes, relying on assistance is better than placing a piece in any available spot it can fit in.
