Pixel Artist Game Review

Pixel Artist Game Background

Pixel Artist is a paint-by-numbers pixel art making game for young players. Pick a picture and color it in by following the numbers. The game was developed by RavalMatic.

How to Play Pixel Artist

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select the gold play button close to the bottom center of the welcome screen. Select a category, then select a picture from within the category to begin coloring.

To zoom, use the mouse scrolling wheel on a desktop or pinch or splay a pair of fingers when on a touchscreen device.

Select a color to choose it, then select a cell to color it in. Select, hold, and move across several cells to color multiple of them at once. Select a colored cell again to erase its color.

Basic Gameplay Advice

The game has seven categories (animals, food, humans, stuff, monsters, plants, and vehicles). Most categories have 12 images except for food, which have 18. Each image begin in grayscale.

Zoom in to view the numbers on each cell. Once you’ve selected a color, all the cells that are its color will have a small gray square. A correctly colored cell, when selected, will be completely filled in, while an incorrectly colored one will have the correct number still show through. Only incorrectly colored cells can have their colors erased; once you color a cell correctly, it usually won’t need to be colored again.

Repeat the process of coloring cells until the entire picture is finished. Your browser will save the colored picture once you’re done. If you don’t finish, however, none of your progress will be saved.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

To finish coloring quickly, begin with the colors that appear the least frequently and work your way up. This makes it much easier to color larger sections of the picture as you won’t need to worry about painting over the wrong cells any more.

Educational Aspects

This game is a fun and easygoing way to foster an appreciation for art. It also encourages younger players to follow instructions carefully to see the desired end result.

Player Age Recommendations

This game is suited for players school-aged and above, though older players not fond of coloring games may not find it too enjoyable. We recommend it mainly for younger players and for older players who want relaxing color games.
