How to Play Pause Puzzle

Press any key or left click on the welcome screen to bring up the level select screen. Tap on a level number to load a stage.

Move the character around the playing field using the arrow keys.

Press the C key to pause or unpause time.

Press the X key to shoot a bullet.

Basic Gameplay Advice

This game has 30 stages which are unlocked sequentially. You beat each stage by safely making it through the level exit door. Avoid running into spikes or lasers, as either instantly kill you, requiring you to start the level over again.

Walk over red buttons to drop boxes and pause them when they are in the right position. Boxes can be used to block lasers, or act as stationary platforms you jump across.

After picking up a bullet you can shoot it and then quickly pause the game. Bullets can be rode across the screen like a moving platform, and they can be used as something which blocks lasers from hitting you.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Jumping

You do not have a double jump, though how long you hold in your jump determines how high you will jump.

• On some stages like 24 you have to time your jumps precisely to be able to climb up to the top and to not hit spikes when jumping across the top section.
• On some levels you have to just barely tap the jump to avoid hitting your head on the ceiling or running into a laser, at least until you can get a box to block the laser.

Shooting Bullets

If your shot is off target let the bullet run into a wall and grab another bullet then try again.

Some bullets require you to shoot them high enough to be able to make another higher jump off them, though you must also shoot them low enough that you can jump onto them and you do not get knocked off when passing through a tight area where the ceiling comes down.

On level 15 you have to use 2 different bullets. One which is higher up to block the lasers shooting down from the roof, and a second one which you ride across the screen. Both of these bullets need to be closely aligned with one another. First you move to the far left of the screen with a bullet then jump up, shoot, and pause the game. Next you move just before the spikes, unpause, shoot the second bullet only slightly off the ground, and then pause the game again. Ideally the bullets will be close to vertically aligned and you can stand on the lower bullet and unpause the game to ride across to the exit.
