Papa's Pizzeria Game Review
Papa’s Pizzeria Game Background
Papa’s Pizzeria is the game that launched the Papa Louie line of restaurant simulators from Flipline Studios and is the second game in the franchise. The game is set in Papa Louie’s pizza restaurant, famous for its signature customized approach to every pizza. Papa himself is off on another adventure, leaving his nephew, delivery boy Roy, in charge of the operations. Help him learn the ropes of the pizzeria and win the approval of Papa’s loyal customers.
How to Play Papa’s Pizzeria
Getting Started
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the loading screen, select the continue button on the bottom right corner to load the welcome screen. On the welcome screen, select Start Game at the center of the screen to begin.
Choose any save slot to get started. Pick an empty save slot to start a new session or an occupied slot to resume a previous session. To clear a save slot, select Erase Save Data on the bottom row of the save slot to clear it. Your web browser automatically saves your game data.
Type in your username in the namespace provided, then select Continue. A cutscene explaining the game’s plot plays whenever you start a new save file. Select Skip Intro to get past the cutscene and proceed to the game. If you’re playing a new session, the first day on the job is also a tutorial for the game.
The Process
There are 4 screens, which you can access through the buttons on the top right corner:
- The order station, represented by the green button, where you take orders
- The topping station, represented by the yellow button, where you assemble the pizza
- The baking station (the oven), represented by the red button, where you cook the pizza
- The cutting station, represented by the blue button, where you slice the pizza
Select Take Order on the bottom right corner to list down a customer’s order. Once they’re done, select, drag, and drop their order onto the line on the top row to store it for later. Select the yellow button to enter the toppings station, then drag and drop the order slip onto the side of the screen to start making the pizza. Select the order from the line then drag and drop it onto the hook space at the right edge to view it. Select Make Pizza on the bottom right to make the pizza crust, then drag and drop the toppings onto the desired location on the pizza. You can store the pizza for future use by selecting the Save for Later button.
Once you’re done, select Send to Oven to bake the pizza. Move to the oven by selecting the red button Watch out for the pizza’s doneness using the timer on each of the four sections of the over. Once the pizza’s done, select it, then select the blue button to enter the cutting station. If the pizza is not satisfactory at this point, you have the option to toss it out by selecting Throw Away, which is available if you haven’t brought in the order slip into the hook space.
To cut the pizza, select on one end of the pizza, then drag to the other side. When the pizza’s done, select Finish Order on the bottom right corner to serve. Make sure to match each pizza you serve with the correct order slip. As long as you serve them with the correct slips, you can serve each pizza in any order convenient to you.
You can always return to the order station at any time to take another order from a customer. If you feel overwhelmed, you can pause the game at any time using the pause button on the bottom right corner of the screen.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Summary
The apathetic pizza boy Roy arrives at Papa’s Pizzeria only to find that his esteemed pizza chef uncle has left him in charge of the pizzeria while the latter’s off on another adventure. Roy now needs to master Papa’s signature style that the customers have gotten quite accustomed to and fast.
Basics
Each customer order consists of 3 points: topping distribution, doneness, and slices. Some customers will like their pizzas with toppings everywhere or on one side. Others will want theirs baked for a shorter time. Some prefer their pizza cut into 4 pieces while others want theirs cut into 6 slices. It is vitally important that you pay attention to each customer’s precise orders when assembling their pizzas and match it as closely as possible.
There are 7 possible pizza toppings available in this game: pepperoni, sausage, olives, anchovies, bell peppers, mushrooms, and onions. Each customer will want them placed on a very specific part of the pizza as indicated by the circle on each section of the order slip. Time is the only resource you need to manage in this game; unlike other restaurant sims, you never run out of stock.
Speed is also an important factor in serving a pizza. Unless the pizza has a long cook time, it will not take you long to make it. Avoid making the customer wait for longer than necessary. Time becomes especially important in later levels where more people arrive. You’ll need to carefully juggle orders carefully as the game progresses. Remember, you can take up only a maximum of 4 pizzas in the oven at any given time.
Work Days and Tips
The game is divided into work days, which refers to an entire session where you serve pizzas to a set number of customers. The customers will fall in line at the register, where you can take their orders. Once you’ve noted their orders, they fall in line to receive them. The day ends once your last customer receives their order.
Each time you satisfy a customer’s order, they leave you a tip. The more satisfied the customer is with your service, the higher your tip will be. Meet a target amount of tips and you level up. Leveling up unlocks a new customer, who will join the lines in the following day.
Your service quality rating per day is shown at the end screen. This is an average based on how well you performed in each of the four stations.
Customers
You begin with 6 starting customers. As you play through the game and level up, you unlock more customers. There are 35 customers in total, unlocked over the course of 30 levels. You can view the customer file screen by selecting the customer tab on the bottom left corner of the game screen.
Each customer has a preference. Over time, you’ll be able to predict their preferences and anticipate what you’d need to prepare. Some customers have distinctive, peculiar tastes like a pizza full of anchovies. You can also view their preferences on their individual profiles on the customer catalog.
Every customer has a corresponding order slip. When serving the pizza, make sure it matches the one on the slip, lest you end up with one frustrated customer. Use the line on the top row to store and keep track of the order slips.
Customers have a star rating, a vital part in completing the game. This represents their approval of your service. If they really like your service, their star rating will go up. The highest star rating you can get per customer is 5 stars. This marks them as a star customer on the customer file screen.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Juggling the time requirements of each stage of the pizza-making process is a precarious balancing act, and it can be very difficult to consistently deliver perfect pizzas to customers on time. Knowing where to save time is the key to mastering the game.
One of the most time-consuming tasks in this game is cutting it up and serving it, which can detract you from taking pizzas out of the oven when they’ve reached their desired doneness. The solution to this is in the topping station; once you’ve finished a pizza, you can save it instead of immediately sending it to the baking station giving you ample time to take other pizzas out of the oven and serve them.
Try not to overwhelm yourself. Take new orders only when you have no pending orders to send out. Once an order is ready, prioritize serving that up before taking a new order.
Educational Aspects
The game tests a player’s ability to switch between tasks and manage time. Players must juggle the various demands of each of customers to serve them in a timely manner.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for players school-aged and above, with the demographic skewing older due to the complexities involved. We recommend this game for fans of time management sims.
