Neon Rocket Game Background

Neon Rocket is a neon-themed 2D idle tapping game where you must bring a rocket from one base to another. Carefully steer the rocket from left to right to avoid walls and obstacles. Collect coins and stars along the way.

This game was developed by Joffre Macedo Neto and uses music from Kevin MacLeod.

How to Play Neon Rocket

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Play Game to open the level selection screen. Select an unlocked level’s number to get started.

On a desktop, press the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to steer. On a touchscreen device, tap on either the left or right sides of the screen to steer the rocket in that direction.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your goal is to bring the rocket to the other base. Steer the rocket away from the walls and moving obstacles as best you can. Each time you steer the rocket, you move up. You move down when you’re not steering.

Avoid hitting anything on the way back to the base. If any part of the rocket’s body hits anything, you fail (the fins at the bottom of the rocket can hit things without consequence). You clear the level once the rocket lands back into the landing platform at the base and the countdown finishes.

Along the way to the next base, you can pick up optional coins and stars. Pick up stars to earn a star rating. The highest star rating you can receive is 3.

The game has 8 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve already unlocked; your web browser automatically saves your level progress and star ratings. Select Reset Game on the bottom right corner of the level selection screen to clear your previous game data.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The game’s controls require a gentle touch. Do not press too hard on either the screen or the arrow keys lest you cause the rocket to move too quickly. Instead, press very gently and alternate between steering left and right. Have enough time between each steering motion to let the rocket move downward sufficiently to avoid walls above it.

The game is untimed. Take all the time you need to get to the next base. Moving slowly can help you steer past closely packed obstacles, collect stars, and reach the base intact.

The game hones a player’s dexterity and patience. Finishing each level requires gentle, careful movements, which may take time to accomplish.
