Neon Cannon Game Background

Neon Cannon is a brightly lit neon-colored 2D endless shooting game. Keep your cannon alive by dodging the bouncing objects and shooting them down until their numbers turn to zero. Collect the coins they drop to purchase improvements to improve your cannon.

How to Play Neon Cannon

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. Select Tap to Start to begin the game. The game starts right away afterward, so be prepared to move. To move the cannon, select and hold then swipe to the left and right. Select the cannon to change its color; it usually starts off green.

The cannon automatically shoots as you are clicking or tapping.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your main goal in this game is to help the cannon survive. Move the cannon from left to right to dodge and attack the falling enemy objects. The objects bounce around and will instantly destroy the cannon if they hit it. Each object has a number on it that indicates how many shots it takes to take them out. It could take several shots from the cannon to destroy them.

You cannot pause the game. Keep shooting and evading until any of the enemies hits the cannon. The cannon has a limited number of hit points and must be upgraded to survive more than one hit.

To earn points, take out enemies. Each enemy is worth a different number of coins based on their size. Your web browser automatically saves your best score. You can compare your latest and best scores at the game over screen.

Upgrades

Collect coins to pay for upgrades. Enemies drop coins after they are destroyed. At the welcome screen, select the 3 available upgrades to buy them.

• Fire rate: Increases the speed you shoot at. Upgrades start at 10 and increase in cost by 10 per level, with a total of 18 upgrades available. Fully upgrading fire rate costs 1,710 coins.
• Health: Increases the number of times your cannon can get hit before you die. Upgrades start at 10 and increase in cost by 10 per level, with a total of 7 upgrades available. Fully upgrading health costs 280 coins.
• Expand: Adds an extra shooter to your cannon. You can add 2 extra side cannons for 50 and 100 coins. The side shooters do not take damage if they get hit by enemies. Fully upgrading expand costs 150 coins.

After fully upgrading all 3 features for a total of 2,140 coins you can’t use coins for any other purpose, so it is best to ignore them at that point and play to survive as long as you can.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Evasive Maneuvers

This is not an especially forgiving game. The game’s bright colors and shaking screen when you hit enemies make it especially hard to concentrate. Try not to let your guard slip for even a moment.

Cannon positioning is crucial. You can easily feel trapped if new enemies appear when your cannon is cornered. Move quickly once you spot oncoming enemies to avoid them. Avoidance becomes more difficult as the screen gets more crowded. Continually take out foes to give yourself ample space to move.

Watch out for smaller objects that move fast. These can be much harder to evade and cause immense damage. In addition, remain on the lookout for pink projectiles. These can resemble coins and you may pick them up by accident if you didn’t give them a good look.

High scores & kill counts

Don’t expect to earn really high scores quickly. Instead, play as best you can and earn as many coins as possible over many playthroughs. While you might die a few times, the money you earn in the process will pay for upgrades you can use to improve your survivability and attack strength. Paying for the health upgrade helps the cannon last longer, while paying for the attack upgrade makes defeating enemies easier.

To take down enemies effectively, approach them as they bounce upward. This will maximize the time you have to shoot them before they bounce back down again.

Focus

Because there is no pause in this game, it’s vital that you play uninterrupted. Drink or use the restroom before getting started or after you’re beaten.
