Mortar Watermelon is a simple cannon firing game. Shoot the watermelon from the basket to the black hole portal while avoiding blades and gathering as many fruits as you can along the way.

How to Play Mortar Watermelon

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. You immediately begin on the first level when playing for the first time.

Select and hold, then move your cursor or fingers around to aim. Pull back while holding to charge your shot. Release to shoot.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your goal is to shoot the watermelon from the basket to the black hole portal. If the watermelon misses or hits a spike, you must start over. If you succeed, the game brings you to the level selection screen, where you can load another level.

You can shoot the watermelon directly to the portal or to another basket. You can also catch the watermelon on the same basket you shot it with

The game has 35 levels, which are unlocked sequentially. You can replay any of the levels you’ve previously beaten. The interface shows a level 36 but you can’t unlock it even if you get a 3-star rating on all remaining stages.

Levels consist of a maze of wooden panels and other features like blades and paddles. Blades will destroy the watermelon, causing you to lose the game. Paddles will direct the watermelon to a specific direction. In some cases the watermelon can bounce off the ground and back into the basket, whereas in other cases hitting the ground ends the level.

Each level has a star rating based on the fruits you’ve collected along the way. Collect all 3 fruits on each stage to earn the 3-star rating for that level.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

Some of the fruits appear offscreen. Consider launching the watermelon straight up to check for their presence. Be sure to angle the basket so the watermelon can still be caught. Make sure your shots have just enough power to get to where they need to go. Too much power, for instance, can cause you to miss or hurl the watermelon toward a blade. Some fruits are also down low, and in some cases can be below in a way where you can’t bounce the watermelon off the ground. If bouncing the watermelon resets the stage that means you can’t hit the ground.

Trial and error is your main ally. Feel free to retry the level as many times as you can until you find the right angles and sequence to finish the level.
