Mafia Wars Game Review
Mafia Wars Game Background
Mafia Wars is a clicker first-person 2D shooting game.
Beedo Games published this game.
How to Play Mafia Wars
This is a clicker shooter game. Players use the mouse left click button to do just about everything. Tap on menu items to change between guns, purchase upgrades, or tap in the middle of the screen to manually shoot.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Most enemies take multiple hits to defeat, so click repeatedly and lead the enemies a bit so they walk into your shots.
Enemies
This game features 15 different enemies with 5 of the enemy types being bosses.
Some enemies come right up to the barricade and try to knock it down, while other enemies shoot from afar.
Each enemy has a health bar above it which shows how much health he has remaining.
Bosses are like regular enemies with the exception that they have far more hit points to chew through.
Some enemies you defeat drop coins which you automatically collect. You also earn a coin bonus at the end of each completed level.
Levels
This game has 30 stages which are unlocked (mostly) sequentially. In some areas you can go down parallel paths, but generally you typically unlock one level at a time.
Having the cowboy stand alive after all the enemy waves have been completed is good enough to beat each stage. You can earn up to a 3-star rating on each level by keeping the barrier erect and having the cowboy not get significantly injured.
If you earn fewer than 3 stars on a stage you can play it again to try to improve your level score.
Team Help
You can unlock a sniper and a bomber to join your team. Each of them cost a one-time $1,000 fee to unlock. The sniper girl works automatically, but the bomber has 4 different items he can throw.
You have to purchase the grenades, cocktails, dynamite, or landmines he throws at enemies. Tap the icons in the upper right of the screen to switch between which items the bomber is throwing. 9 grenades cost $14, 8 cocktails cost $15, 8 dynamite cost $17, and 7 landmines cost $20. If the bomber runs out of one type of inventory he automatically switches to the next type.
You can upgrade sniper and bomber damage levels 12 times each. The first upgrade costs $250 with each subsequent upgrade costing $250 more than the prior upgrade.
The team support players automatically aim at enemies and do not require you to control them other than selecting which item you want the bomber throwing.
Guns
You start with a shotgun that has unlimited ammo. You can also unlock 3 other guns: machine gun for $999, revolver for $300, and gatling gun for $2,999. Each of the 4 guns can be leveled up 12 times.
The shotgun has unlimited ammo, though the other guns have ammo limits. At the end of each round you can purchase ammo to restore the guns to full ammo.
Barricades
You start the game with a bamboo barricade, though can also unlock wood, steel, and iron barricades for $500, $999, and $2,999 respectively. When a barricade type has been unlocked you can then do up to a dozen upgrades to it.
You can only equip one barricade type on each stage. If your barricade gets damaged in battle you can pay to repair it in between stages. Repair costs start at $50 for bamboo and increase for stronger barricades.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Upgrade your shotgun at least a few times early in the game along with the strength of the bamboo a few times. Next save up your money to hire both team support players as they help you take out enemies and improve your collective shooting frequency. When the sniper shoots she pushes back the enemies a bit, so compensate for that with your aim.
Be sure the barricade is fully repaired before battle and you have full ammo for any gun you intend to use.You can skip barricades, going from bamboo to iron.
At the start of each level it can make sense to use the regular shotgun and then only switch over to the machine gun or gatling gun as enemies begin to saturate the playing field or when you face a boss. This allows you to conserve limited ammo for the most intense portions of the battle while using the unlimited ammo shotgun for most of the stage.
Having the bomber throw landmines is way more powerful than the other items he can throw, as they stay there until stepped on and do not blow up until an enemy touches them.
Educational Aspects
This game requires paying attention to detail and focusing on which enemies to defeat first.
Player Age Recommendations
The game features guns and is mafia themed, so it may not be appropriate for some younger audiences. There is no blood in the game and the character types are cartoon drawn in style.
