Klondike Solitaire Game Review
Klondike Solitaire Game Background
Klondike Solitaire is a simple online version of one of the most recognizable versions of Solitaire. Move the cards around the tableau in alternating patterns until you can move them all into the foundation piles on the top right.
This game was developed by MarketJS.
How to Play Klondike Solitaire
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select the blue and yellow play button on the center right side of the screen to begin. The game shows you a brief tutorial for the game before you begin.
Select the pile on the top left corner to deal new cards. To move a card, select it, then drag and drop it to a valid location. Remember, cards must be stacked in descending order and in alternating colors on the lower piles, and stacked in ascending order according to their suites on the foundation piles on the top right. Select a face-down card to uncover it.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Your goal is to arrange every card by suite on the foundation piles in ascending order (that is, from ace to king). You begin with a deal pile on the upper left corner and seven piles of cards on the bottom, which increase in density from left to right. Only the top card of these piles are shown face up. Drag and drop the cards around each of the bottom piles to slowly reveal these other cards. Gradually build up the foundation piles to finish the game. If ever you don’t have any move options, deal a new card from the dealer’s pile.
Once you’ve revealed all the cards, the game automatically finishes building the foundation piles for you.
If you find yourself stuck, you have the option to undo your last move, restart the game from the beginning, or start a new game altogether. The undo button is located on the lower right side of the game screen. You can only undo your latest move. To restart the game or begin a new one, select the menu button and choose each respective option
The game counts each move you make. The lower your move count when you finally win, the higher your score will be. The game also counts the moves it makes when auto-building your foundation piles as part of your move count.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
The game helps you out by showing you possible moves if you haven’t made any moves in a while. Wait for this cue if you feel stuck.
Plan your moves out so that many of the moves you make reveal more and more of the cards in the pile. Focus on clearing away the largest piles first as they contain the most hidden cards. In the meantime, try to free up a pile or two to drag a king there.
Think carefully about which kings you need to place in every empty pile. Compare the number of queens and jacks you have already on the other piles and pick the king that can take them in.
Educational Aspects
This game helps develop a player’s memory and cognitive skills while boosting patience and focus. Players are also encouraged to be flexible and are rewarded for being adaptive to new, unexpected situations.
Player Age Recommendations
This game is suited for older school-aged players and above. Younger players may find the game too slow-paced and hard to understand. We recommend this game for fans of Solitaire games.
