Guess Word is a simple elimination-based word game inspired by the popular Wordle. Guess a word based on its length. Use the color codes on each letter to help you with your guesses. Try to guess the word within 6 tries and guess all 5 words to win.

How to Play Guess Word Game

To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select Play below the game’s title at the center of the screen to get started. Choose the length of the word to guess (4, 5 and 6 letters).

On a desktop, type in the letters using your keyboard. On touchscreen devices, you can tap on the onscreen keyboard to type in letters.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Your goal is to guess all 5 words. You begin by choosing the length of the word you need to guess, which acts as the game’s difficulty level. You start each round with a series of 6 blanks. Fill in each of the letter spaces to spell out the word of your guesses. The words you can guess are all in English and are drawn from the game’s built-in dictionary. Try to solve the word within the first few blanks provided.

If you fail to guess the word within 6 tries, you lose. You can also select the Give Up button if you find that

Letters follow a code based on their position on the word.

• Green indicates letters that are in their correct places.
• Orange indicates letters that belong in the word but are placed incorrectly
• Black indicates letters that don’t appear in the word.

You can also keep track of the letters using the alphabetic list shown at the bottom center of the screen. This crosses out each incorrect letter you type in.

You can use hints to help you eliminate a letter in the puzzle. You get one hint per word. To use a hint, select the hint button on the right side of the screen.

Your score is based on the number of guesses you needed to make. At the start of each round, you begin with 100 points. Every incorrect guess deducts a certain number of points from the total, as would using hints. Your total score for the entire session is cumulative, based on the points you’ve earned from guessing all the words.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

The majority of words come in English come with at least one vowel. At the start of each round, try vowels first. Consider using words that have as many vowels as possible to eliminate or lock in as many of them as possible.

Lock in as many letters as you can by your second guess. If you somehow managed to not confirm any of the letters in your first guess, try a word that has none of the letters you just used.

Use common letter pairings in most of your guesses. These will increase the chances of you finding one of the words in the dictionary. Don’t forget about the potential for letters to appear multiple times in the same word.
