Feed The Kids Game Review

Feed The Kids Game Background

Feed The Kids is a clicker game where your goal is to build an efficient farm to feed 733 million – all the hungry people around the world according to UN figures.

How to Play Feed The Kids

Press the orange and red button at the bottom of the welcome screen to start the game.

Use the mouse left click button to interact with items in the game. You select tools to use, seeds to plant, or animals to buy using the left menus. Press the sell button at the top to sell items. Select buildings from the bottom menu to purchase them. Interact with the food pack generator in the lower right and deliver the truck’s goods when the truck is full.

Basic Gameplay Advice

Food Packs

Tap on the blue generator button to create another food pack. When the truck is full press the red delivery button to deliver the food packs. When the truck drives away the food packs are automatically sold, generating income.

Tools

Under the tools section you can select to use hoe, water can, hand, or upgrade. Each of these has the following functions

  • Hoe: turn green parts of the farm brown by tilling the soil, preparing the soil for seed planting.
  • Water can: you must periodically water the plants in the farm, along with any livestock by dragging the water can over them when they show a blue water symbol.
  • Hand: when crops are fully grown you can harvest them, then repeat the planting and growing process.
  • Upgrade: for upgrading a variety of building types.

Even when you have the watering can selected you can still perform ordinary tasks like tapping on the generator button or buying new buildings. You must switch to the hand button to harvest crops, and the upgrade button to upgrade buildings.

The crops are not harmed by running water over them when they are not needed or running the hoe across a patch of the farm that does not need hoed.

Seeds

You can plant carrot, potato, strawberry, or turnip packs. Respectively they will harvest in 1 minute, 4 minutes, 8 minutes, or 15 minutes. They cost $2, 8, $16, and $30 to purchase. The sales prices go up along with the costs and run at roughly 5 times the purchase price of the seeds, however the precise seed sales price depends on other factors like purchasing the Secure Chest and Profit PC, which offer sales bonuses on all sales.

Sales

In the top center of the game there is a red SELL button. Any crops you harvest must be sold by pressing that button after harvesting them. Similarly, any animal produced products must be sold manually by pressing that button. The panel near the top left of the screen has play information along with sales information.

Animals

You can purchase 12 chickens, 12 sheep, and 12 cows. The first chicken costs $450, the first sheep costs $1,200, and the first cow costs $6,000. Animal prices increase as you fill up the farm, with the sixth chicken costing $984, the third sheep costing $1,777, and the third cow costing $8,888.

The animals roam freely and periodically generate produce, which you have to manually sell like crops.

In this simple game animals are automatically fed, but you have to water them. Also, for the sake of simplicity, animals do not breed or die off, and all animals roam a common grazing area.

Buildings

This game features 8 different type of buildings. You can purchase a single unit of most building types, unless otherwise noted.

  • The Wrench of Speed: costs $5,000 and reduces manual meal pack cooldown time. Upgrades cost $20,000 and $50,000.
  • Secure Chest: costs $1,000 and increases your sales limit to $2,000 while giving you a 7% profit boost. Upgrades start at $5,000 then $12,500 for the second and final upgrade. Upgrades give additional profit boosts while boosting your sales limit to $5,000 then $10,000. The first upgrade profit boost is 7% and the second is 11%.
  • Water Station: costs $5,000 and reduces how often crops and animals need water. The first upgrade costs $12,000 and the second upgrade costs $20,000.
  • Nutrition Lab: costs $15,000 and enhances meal packs to feed more people per unit. The first upgrade costs $30,000, while the second upgrade costs $65,000.
  • Quick Seller: costs $3,200 and sells earnings whenever the money cap is reached. This unit does not have any upgrades.
  • Profit PC: costs $4,000 and improves profits on all farm goods automatically. The first profit boost generation is 7%, and upgrades start at $20,000, then go to $50,000. The first upgrade boosts income 7%, while the second upgrade boosts income 11%.
  • Nutrition Station: initially costs $2,500 and generates meal packs to help feed the world. You can purchase up to 10 of these, with the cost of each nutrition lab increasing over the prior. The second nutrition lab costs $3,750. Nutrition stations periodically break down. You have to tap on them 5 or 6 times when a wrench appears near them to restore them. Each Nutrition Station is upgraded individually, with the first upgrade costing $7,000 and the second upgrade costing $15,000.
  • Truck Depot: costs $5,000 and increases truck box slots to carry more meal packs. The first depot boosts your carrying capacity from 5 to 10 units. The first upgrade costs $10,000 and set the depot to allow 25 packages at a time, while the second upgrade costs $25,000 and expands capacity to 50 units.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

This game is rather basic in terms of play strategy.

Planting one crop type at a time makes it easy to deal with them as a group, knowing the harvest times will be similar. Early in the game it makes sense to plant carrots and try to keep the harvest in sync. Whenever plants and animals do not need watering tap on the generator button to create meal packs, then have the truck deliver them.

Purchasing the secure chest early in the game is great because you get an immediate income boost. The same is true with the profit PC, though it costs more.

Initially in the game you spend a lot of time going around watering plants and animals. When they go in need of water the timers associated with their production are paused, so if you want to be able to play without having to give constant attention then it makes sense to buy and upgrade the water plant so the manual watering requirement is less frequent. Similarly, if you want to let the game play passively it makes sense to buy the Quick Seller to automate sales, and to plant Turnips which take a long time to mature.

Educational Aspects

This game can help kids consider where our food supply comes from and how lucky we are to be well fed, though there are no crucial time limits or such associated with this game.

Player Age Recommendations

This is a relaxing idle clicker game which can be enjoyed by players of all ages. If you play for speed and focus on the game it can be completed in 2.5 to 3 hours, whereas it takes closer to 5 hours if playing at a relaxing pace while distracted.
