Clash of Tanks Game Review

Clash of Tanks Game Background

Clash of Tanks is a real time strategy tank battle game.

This game was published by Beedo Games.

How to Play Clash of Tanks

Use the dropdown language menu in the upper left corner to switch between languages. You can play in English, French, Spanish, German, Italian, or Portuguese.

The lower left corner has buttons to turn game sound and music off.

The upper right corner of the welcome screen shows how much cash you have saved.

In the center of the welcome screen you can enter a nickname to play as, then press the red START button to begin battle.

Underneath the START button is an UPGRADE button for upgrading the tanks.

Basic Gameplay Advice

The objective of the game is to destroy the opponent’s base by deploying tanks strategically, taking advantage of the strengths and weaknesses of each tank.

Military Bases

Each base has a central tower and two side turrets. Each of the turrets and the central tower have a respective health bar of their own.

The goal of the game is to take out the central tower. Whoever destroys the other player’s base first wins the game.

Playing Cards

At the bottom center of the screen are four tank cards, which represent tanks you can use your mouse to drag into play. A meter below the tank cards shows how many credits are charged up, and each card turns colorful when you have enough credits to lay it. To the left of the four cards is the next tank card which will be added to the mix after you play one of the current cards.

The upper left corner of the card shows how many point credits you use by playing a card. If the tank type has been upgraded the upgrade number will show in the lower right corner of the card.

Tanks

This game features seven different types of tanks:

  • Buggy is a weak tank which does little structural or armor damage. Playing it costs 1 card credit.
  • APC is a weak tank which also does little structural or armor damage, though it is a bit larger and stronger than the Buggy. Playing it costs 2 card credits.
  • Grizzly is a standard tank with near average health, structural damage, and armor damage. Playing it costs 4 card credits.
  • Rhino is a powerful tank which has above average health, structural damage, and armor damage. Playing it costs 5 card credits.
  • Tank Destroyer is a strong tank with solid health and armor damage, though is not as great at structural damage. Playing it costs 7 card credits.
  • Prism is a strong tank which is almost the inverse of Tank Destroyer. It does little armor damage, but does fantastic structural damage and has decent health. Playing it costs 7 card credits.
  • Mamooth is a huge high-powered tank which does significant structural and armor damage while having a lot of hit points as well. It is slow, but when it is fully upgraded no other tank is anywhere near as powerful. Playing it costs 12 card credits.

Tank Upgrades

During battle you earn coins which can be used to fund upgrades of each tank type. Each tank can be upgraded a total of 3 times.

  • Buggy upgrades cost $250, $350, and $500, for a total upgrade cost of $1,100. Fully upgraded the tank has 15% health, 3% structure damage, and 5% armor damage.
  • APC upgrades cost $350, $400, $700, for a total upgrade cost of $1,450. Fully upgraded the tank has 20% health, 8% structure damage, and 8% armor damage.
  • Grizzly upgrades cost $500, $750, and $1,000, for a total upgrade cost of $2,250. Fully upgraded the tank has 40% health, 25% structure damage, and 30% armor damage.
  • Rhino upgrades cost $650, $850, and $1,250, for a total upgrade cost of $2,750. Fully upgraded the tank has 60% health, 40% structure damage, and 35% armor damage.
  • Tank Destroyer upgrades cost $1,000, $1,500 and $2,000, for a total upgrade cost of $4,500. Fully upgraded the tank has 60% health, 25% structure damage, and 75% armor damage.
  • Prism upgrades cost $1,500, $2,250, and $3,000, for a total upgrade cost of $6,750. Fully upgraded the tank has 50% health, 80% structure damage, and 20% armor damage.
  • Mamooth upgrades cost $2,000, $3,000, and $5,000, for a total upgrade cost of $10,000. Fully upgraded the tank has 100% health, 100% structure damage, and 100% armor damage.

It costs a total of $28,800 to fully upgrade all tanks. Your tank upgrades carry over from battle to battle. Tanks which have been upgraded show stars behind them, with the number of stars corresponding to how many times they have been upgraded. The cards to play the tanks also show the level upgrade in the lower right corner.

Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy

When you start powering up tanks power up the cheaper tanks first as you get them more frequently and can upgrade them faster. After upgrading the first 3 or 4 tanks fully it can make sense to start upgrading the more expensive tanks.

Some aspects of this game come down to wave battle strategy. Sometimes it can be helpful to wait for the opponent to make their first play so that when their tank gets near your base they are taking fire from your base along with the tanks you lay. Then you can lay many tanks at once to do a counter attack surge.

Different tank types move at different speeds, so you can lay your slower tanks closer to the bridges and your faster tanks further back so they arrive near the same time.

Typically it makes sense to take out one side tower, the other side tower, then go after the central base.

Educational Aspects

Players can learn battle strategy and efficient resource allocation playing this game.
