4 Minutes to Escape Game Review
4 Minutes to Escape Game Background
This is a 20-stage room escape platforming adventure game.
Players are given infinite lives and 4 minutes to safely exit a malfunctioning rocket which has initiated self-destruct commands. You are given unlimited lives, but have a 4-minute time limit.
This is the third game in this series. You can also play 2 Minutes to Escape and 3 Minutes to Escape on our site.
How to Play 4 Minutes to Escape
Move the player left by pressing the A key, the left arrow key, or the on-screen left arrow button.
Move the player right by pressing the D key, the right arrow key, or the on-screen right arrow button.
Jump by pressing the W key, the up arrow key, the space bar, or the on-screen jump button.
Basic Gameplay Advice
The goal of the game is to safely make it through all 20 stages and exit the rocket before it self destructs.
On each level you must pick up the key card, insert it into the security system to unlock the door, and then safely exit the door to the next stage.
This game features infinite lives, but a one-hit death. Players must avoid charged spikes, moving spikes, security system gun shots, and security system rockets which are heat seeking chasers.
Scattered throughout the levels are clocks, which put more time back onto the game clock when you collect them.
Thin electronic platforms disappear shortly after you step on them, so move quickly off them to avoid falling. They also reappear a few seconds after disappearing, so you can use them again.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Time your moves with care, as any hit leads to a death and you have to start the stage over again.
Timing some moves can require pausing behind an obstacle, waiting for a shot to be in midair before moving, moving in the wrong direction before going the direction you want to go, or moving further than you need to in a particular direction so that you move a shooting enemy out of the screen.
The game requires a lot of back and forth between picking up the security key card, inserting the card into the security system, and making it safely to the exit.
Educational Aspects
This is a good game for helping players develop hand and eye coordination. It can also help players develop problem solving skills.
Player Age Recommendations
The clock constantly works against you and a single hit by any obstacle leads to death. Either of which can be frustrating for younger players. We recommend this game for kids in middle school and above.
