2048 Stack Game Review
2048 Stack Game Background
2048 Stack plays with the traditional 2048 formula by introducing a stacking mechanism. Non-identical numbers stack on top of one another from biggest to smallest. Only equal or smaller numbers can enter an existing stack. Much like other games of its kind, your goal is to merge numbers, which can only happen if the numbers are identical. Create larger numbers by merging numbers in a stack in rapid succession.
This game was developed by PaintGame.
How to Play 2048 Stack
To select, left click with your mouse or tap on the touchscreen with your fingers. On the welcome screen, select any of the three available grid sizes (3×3, 4×4, 5×5).
On a desktop, use your keyboard arrow keys to move the number tiles. On a touchscreen device, tap on the screen with your fingers and swipe to move the tiles. All the tiles will move in the same direction.
Basic Gameplay Advice
The game’s mechanics are similar to regular 2048 and its derivatives. Your task is to form the 2048 tile and even bigger numbers by merging groups of identical numbers together. The game only generates the 2, 4, and 8 number tiles; the rest are formed as you merge.
As you move the tiles, identical tiles merge together while non-identical ones stack. The stacking mechanism of the game allows only numbers of the same value or lower than the topmost tile to join. You cannot add tiles to the middle of the stack. If you put an identical tile on the topmost tile, these will merge; this can lead to a chain of merges if the numbers on the stack were perfectly sequential. Keep merging until you run out of space.
You can also use power ups to free up extra space in the grid. The two power ups are as follows:
- The hammer power up lets you remove one of the number tiles or stacks from the grid.
- The shuffle power up changes the arrangement of the number tiles, allowing you more opportunities to find stacks that match.
Select the power up’s icon on the bottom center of the screen to use it. You only have one of each power up, however, so use them wisely.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
Much like other 2048-style games, the most important strategy is to merge the largest tiles in a single direction. Try to move the stacks in only two major directions (down and to one side; we recommend left) in most circumstances. This will ensure that most of the pieces form stacks in the same direction.
Of course, due to the way stacks move, you will need to deviate from this formula more often than in regular 2048. Make sure to do so only if you need to move a
Try to form the stacks with sequential tiles as often as possible. By making sure that the tiles on top are in the proper sequence, you don’t just make it easier to add more tiles to the same stack. You also make it possible to quickly merge the tiles together to form larger ones, which you can then put other stacks on top of.
