2 Minutes to Escape Game Review
2 Minutes to Escape Game Background
This is a 13-stage room escape platformer. Players are given a total of 2 minutes to make it through all 13 rooms. To make it through the room you must step on a red floor button to unlock the exit door, then safely pass through the door.
On each stage you are given 3 hit points. Getting hit by a rocket or gun costs a hit point. Touching an electrically charged floor tile costs a hit point. Running into the vertical lasers is an instant death.
You get unlimited lives to complete the game, but each time you die the time previously spent on that stage still counts against your 2 minute total time limit.
This is the first game in the series. You can also play 3 Minutes to Escape and 4 Minutes to Escape on our site.
How to Play 2 Minutes to Escape
Move the player left by pressing the A key, the left arrow key, or the on-screen left arrow button.
Move the player right by pressing the D key, the right arrow key, or the on-screen right arrow button.
Jump by pressing the W key, the up arrow key, the space bar, or the on-screen jump button.
Basic Gameplay Advice
Ensure you hit the red button so the door is unlocked, then wait for the correct timing to move further through the stage.
Jump from platform to platform to quickly make your way through the stage while avoiding hazards. Each time you get hit your character is temporarily stunted, which makes it harder to time subsequent moves. Sometimes getting shot will throw off your jump and cause you to get hit once or twice more.
You have 2 minutes to complete all 13 stages.
Each time you start a level you have 3 heart containers, even if you beat the prior stage with only 1 heart container remaining.
Different rockets have different types of fire. The green shots do not adjust after initially firing. The red rockets are heat seeking, adjusting their aim as needed to keep chasing you. Evading the red rockets requires constantly moving, or hiding behind an object for the rocket to explode against.
The red floor tiles go away momentarily after you step on them, so move quickly across them. They do reappear after a few seconds.
Advanced Playing Tips & Strategy
While this is a platformer game it is also a bit of a rhythm game. Even though you are playing against the clock sometimes it makes sense to wait a bit for the rocket fire to not be aligned with your movements.
Be careful on stage 12, as each of the electrical pulses go at a different frequency, and getting hit by any of them causes you to lose the stage and restart it.
Try to get through the early stages as quickly as you possibly can, as the last 2 stages are the most difficult and leaving time for the end of the game allows you to try those stages multiple times without the clock running out.
Educational Aspects
This is a good game for helping players develop hand and eye coordination. It can also help players develop problem solving skills.
Player Age Recommendations
The clock constantly works against you, which can be frustrating for younger players. We recommend this game for kids in middle school and above.
